Are protein shakes going to interact with the mirtazapine that I take at night?

My concern is that the protein shakes definitely has some tryptophan which I know is a precursor to serotonin. If I take it with mirtazapine, will there be any interactions? Drugs.com doesn't have the answer. I was hoping maybe yall do.

I very much doubt it.
Unless mirtazepine has dietary contraindications, i'm quite sure you'll be fine.

Yeah, I had the same problem with protein shakes, I use Casein before sleep, but it does contain a lot of Tyrosine, the Tryptophan is probably not the issue, but too much Tyrosine will definitely prevent you to sleep, plus an excess of protein will keep you up as well, just use much smaller portions before bed and see how you react to that.

Check the label to know one way or another on if it contains tryptophan. The ones I use don't, nor do they contain any tryptophan prescursors. Most likely you'll be fine unless your intentionally purchasing a type that contains it. I also second the suggestion to be careful about taking them at night as some will definately give you energy. What type of protien shakes are you drinking?

I don't know. I just some some random protein shake off the shelf called gold standard whey protein or something. It has 24g per scoop

Whey is absorbed pretty fast, that's why it's the preferred form of protein shake a lot of people prefer right after weight lifting for example. IIRC there's a brief post-exercise anabolic (muscle building) period and people who try to min/max or compete with their muscles drink them to take advantage of this because they believe it's the best way to get the most protein in to their body in the shortest time. If it doesn't make you feel bad, it's probably ok to use it. I had issues with tyrosine (I suspect, not 100% sure) when drinking whey shakes as a protein supplement, causing anxiety until I either got used to it or subconsciously started taking it at a different time when it wouldn't make feel that way. I am sensitive and prone to anxiety though.
