Are drugs such as Oxycodone, Cocaine, and MDMA safe to mix with Doxycycline?

So I'm on the antibiotic doxycycline right now, and apparently it inhibits the CYP34A enzyme. This is the same enzyme that breaks down these other drugs. Is there a risk of over dose because of the inability to break down the drug efficiently? I'm planning on taking one of these three drugs this weekend and I can't seem to find any definitive answers.

Doxycycline doesnt inhibit CYP3A4, not sure where you got that from. Are you sure it is doxycycline you either actually received or are thinking about? If you are using doxy for things like pneumonia or other acute infections, I would avoid any recreational drug. If you are using it for acne, Oxycodone is probably the safest of the three, followed by MDMA and cocaine probably should be avoided, as both doxycycline and cocaine can cause kidney toxicity. In all honestly, I would probably avoid MDMA too.

I really cannot think of a clinically relevant interaction involving doxycycline mediated through CYP3A4. Perhaps if you were taking a strong inhibitor like ketconazole, and substrate for 3A4 and then add doxy, the doxy could compete with the other substrate.

That list even says it only lists known substrates and effective inducers. It says nothing about inhibitors. Still, who knows with MDMA. I think it would be safe but there really isnt evidence. I would avoid as I said.

Yeah you're probably right. It's probably safe, but I'm holding off on rec drugs until I'm better and off the meds.
