Last week, I was on dihydrocodeine and feeling pretty good with some euphoria. I took 1mg of alprazolam and it got rid of all euphoria and just put me in a dull, sedated state. I suspect that people who find benzos euphoric are in really shitty states to begin with. I can see how someone with constant anxiety and dysphoria would view a numb, dull state like that as euphoria. I feel bad for people like this, life must be real hard for them.

No. Benzos don't give me even the slightest bit of euphoria. If I'm not anxious and I take one, only effect I get is that I want to go to sleep. If I'm anxious/panicking however, it's almost "euphoric" because of the relief from the anxiety.

Yes. Benzodiazepines have been proven to be able to produce feelings of euphoria in human clinical trials. For example, the FDA lists "euphoria" as an official side effect of temazepam use. In animal models, benzos proved to be very strongly reinforcing. So yes, they can produce euphoria.

I personally get euphoria from temazepam and I've experienced it on several times with nitrazepam, triazolam, diazepam and lormetazepam. But temazepam is the one that takes the cake.

Please state that this is your personal opinion and/or experience. Because the facts are against what you claim.

^ calm down man, they clearly said "they don't give ME..." not "they don't give anyone..."

Lots of people do experience euphoria with benzos but often times some people feel that when combined with opioids, they dull the experience and it's less euphoric. This has been discussed for years and there are people such as yourself who don't feel they add to the euphoria and others such as kokaino who do.

I've tried alprazolam & diazepam, but neither do anything interesting for me. No euphoria what so ever.

I never really found benzos to be euphoric or very recreational. Even in combo with other drugs a lot of the time benzos just make me fall asleep in the middle of an experience which I had no desire to be asleep yet.

Etizolam actually had a slight euphoria to it, but it didn't have as much anxiolytic or sedative effects like all other benzos I've tried (yeah I know it's not your typical benzo being a thiobenzo). Problem I had was I need atleast 5mg of it to get a good effect which sucked.

Do you suffer with Anxiety?

My guess would be no.

It seems the general consensus is that the 'euphoria' is the relief from an anxious state from the anxious individual.

Maybe it depends on the type of benzo then. I have little or no experience with them, only one I've tried is alprazolam and lormetazepam. I've done z drugs and they do induce euphoria in me, especially zolpidem. Lormetazepam actually induces dysphoria and anxiety in me. Thats probably a paradoxical reaction though.

Yeah I think all this is highly personal. Drugs affect everyone differently. Phenibut has muscle relaxing properties for many people. For me, its the other way around, it makes me aggitated. Amphetamines stimulate many people, they tranquilise me. When I'm coming down off amphetamines, I get really drowsy but if I take opioids at that point, they wake me up. Taking phenibut during an amphetamine comedown wakes me up so much that I have a tendency to stay up for 36 hours (which is unusual for me since I usually crash after 16 hours on amphetamines).

I'm not entirely sure if this is how it is though. One day I was in the midst of a phenibut withdrawal and I took 1mg alprazolam and it put me in this blissful sedated state. Today, I had feeling like crap because I significantly reduced my dosage of phenibut after a 7 day binge and the 1mg alprazolam sedated me, but it didn't produce any euphoria at all. Later on that day, I took 5mg of dexedrine and now I'm feeling way more euphoric. I think it depends on what neurotransmitters are present in the brain already. For example, when I take opioids while amphetamines are still in my system, I feel like crap. If I take them during an amphetamine comedown, I start bursting with euphoria. Its not simply the contrast that I feel though, I feel way better than I do if I take opioids by themselves. The contrast does play a huge role in it though.

Unrelated side question: Do all of you get really thirsty when you take benzos? Most drugs make me more likely to get dehydrated because I don't get as thirsty on them. Benzos on the other hand make me really thirsty. Since the xanax kicked in earlier, I've drank 3 pints of water. Feels real satisfying drinking water on benzos too.

So far..I would agree w/all of this..^^
However, temazepam is one on my to do list..
and once I've researched it personally..maybe I'll have a different point of view.
For now, any "euphoria" is definately attributed to ease of breathing..
coupled w/the lack of this one knot that refuses to leave my belly, otherwise.

I also absolutely believe euphoria is subjective/individual..

I've used xanax and valium and I don't know if "euphoric" is quite the word I would use. I usually feel sedated and relaxed for an hour then will nod off. When I wake up I have an improved mood but not really euphoric. I usually notice an improved mood still the next day. I would describe the opiate high as euphoric, in contrast.

Ive tried Ativa, Xanax & Valium & none of them give me any euphoria........ive mixed Ativan with Vicodin & it synergizes the experience. Ativan mellows me out & like others have stated but no euphoria.

not euphoric but they make me damn happy because i deal with severe anxiety and panic attacks and it feels just great to get a good dose of xanax in me to calm my nerves

Temazepam most definitely is euphoric to me, no matter what kind of state of mind I am in.

Benzos can be indirectly euphoric, though, since the transition from an anxious to a relaxed state of mind is very relieving, and allows for your natural feelgoodman neurotransmitters to truly shine without the heavy chains of anxiety.

I have only tried alprazolam, diazepam, and clonazepam but out of those 2 to 4mgs of alprazolam combined with good cannabis provides quite a bit of euphoria. I do enjoy the clonazepam as it has a very long half-life and works almost as well for me.

Thank you for the laugh this morning..

and oh yeah..Yes to that which is in bold and not. +1

Benzodiazepines IMO are not euphoric at all. The only thing that even comes remotely close to "euphoria" is flunitrazepam.

But benzodiazepines are tools, not toys.

What about temazepam??

thinks you ppl need to make up your minds..

as I need some euphoria...stat!

Have you even tried flunitrazepam? Because if you did, you certainly wouldn't be saying that.
