Just curious, is anyone here suffering from fatigue, either constant or recurrent, and ends up treating themselves with RCs or illicit substances?

If so, what are your experiences?

Did use of stimulants lead to dependency and ultimately make your fatigue worse?

Did you find some of them to be more appropriate for short acting energy, still leaving you functional and able to sleep in the PM, vs stimulants that keep you up for days?

Yea, I do. Vitamin B 12... Go to vitamin world or GNC they have sublingual pills or tinctures. They work great. I went to my dr and now I give myself monthly injections. It really really helps.

It gives an energy boost without some weird speedy feeling.. It really helps. If you want to talk about it further feel free to message me :)

I don't have chronic fatigue, but I have also noticed that B vitamins help me regulate my energy levels. I've seen this most with bee pollen, which contains vitamin B12 among other things.

You'd probably find that adaptogens would benefit you more over the long term since they don't cause a major spike in energy levels followed by a crash as with the stimulants, but rather they increase the body's resistance to stress when taken regularly over time. Bee pollen along with royal jelly and propolis can be good for this, along with herbs like Panax ginseng, Holy Basil (Ocimum sanctum), Rhodiola rosea, Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera), and fungi like various species of the Ganoderma genus (Reishi being one with a long history of human use).

Hope this helps.

Edit: I've read elsewhere that you're prescribed low doses of opiates for pain, and I feel that with most of these plants there wouldn't be any major interactions as there would be with stimulants. However, I do know that Holy Basil can increase the elimination of drugs that are metabolized by CYP450, which I think includes opiates.

While b vitamins and vitamin c, excercise, can all be great sometimes they just aren't enough. When I was suffering from "lack of motivation" to put if nicely I would take a tiny amount of MDPV(1-2mg's) oral in the morning. Didn't get me high or jittery but gave me the energy I need for my busy work life/home life.

Provigil (Modafanil) usually 300-400mg in the morning can do me nicely for the day. It never makes you feels amped up, more like you've had a good nights sleep. It's good stuff if you can get it.

i believe modafinil(Provigil) is perscribed for chronic fatigue, and i hear it works well for what its supposed to do but unlike amphetamines it won't really get you high.

Provigil gives me mental focus and helps stop sleepiness, but it causes the anxiety and agitation of a stimulant without giving me physical energy or motivation, just concentration and improved cognition. Its useful, makes me more mentally alert, but if I am suffering a lack of motivation sometimes I still dont have energy and I need to combine it with a mild stimulant.

YES! I've had fatigue since the age of 12 (14 years) with no official diagnosis. Been tested for hypothyroidism, anemia, diabetes, food allergies, heavy metal toxicity and others, all of which were negative. I suspect some sort of autoimmune thing like endometriosis or celiac disease, but it could also be something simple like depression. I honestly have no idea.

I was briefly prescribed Provigil in college. It prevented me from sleeping but did nothing for the fatigue itself. Also taken almost every SSRI, SNRI and tricyclic antidepressant in the book w/ no relief.

For the past couple of years I've been experimenting with self-medication. Here are the drugs I've found helpful:

Stimulants: Propylhexedrine, mephedrone, caffeine, methylone. Use propyl in low doses daily, periodically substituting methylone or mephedrone (never combining them). Stims help me be productive and keep up with my peers, which is a miracle for me. I worry about the health risks of these sketchy drugs constantly but can't seem to justify compromising my quality of life for a longer one...and have had no luck getting a prescription stim despite trying about 7 different doctors.

Opiates: Low-dose poppy tea daily in the evenings. Great for social anxiety, stress and depression.

While I'm physically dependent on poppies, I definitely feel more psychologically addicted to stimulants. The propyl keeps me up way too long and causes me to do obsessive, repetitive things, which can be annoying. Mephedrone and methylone are both shorter acting, though I feel slightly more worried about the heart-related effects with these two. Propyl is better for morning use and productivity, while the other two can be used closer to bed for unwinding or social activity.

Feel free to PM me if you have any more questions!

I feel a lot more fatigue\lack of motivation on most days than what is probably normal :\ I think it's because I have a very random sleep schedule, because I often have a hard time falling asleep so I just go to bed whenever my body allows me to.

Lately I've been taking Adderall to try to stay awake during the day and get shit done, because I have finals coming up. I hate Adderall though. Even a relatively standard dose (20mg) will keep me up for at least 24hrs. straight, and ultimately it makes things worse because when I crash I sleep for like 15 hours.

I'd like to find a better solution for sure. I've heard about B-12 vitamins, and a couple people mentioned them earlier in the thread... how much does a months supply of these typically cost? How do they work to help your energy levels?

If you want B-vitamins, you want the Methyl instead of the Cyanide extract....the Cyanide extract is cheapest but does not absorb well. The Methyl is the form your body can more readily use. Sublingual is the best route for B12, but you probably also want a full spectrum B-vitamin.

I know someone that self medicates for depression & she couldnt be happier with her life. She has been doing it for about 3 years now & she increased her dose by a half of a pill since she started.

Low dose intranasal cocaine or amphetamines, cant beat it.

Vitamins are for what they are worth, vitamins...

Even healthy individuals just need that extra boost. Be careful with vitamin c and vitamin b3, these will often be sedating... Anything over around 200mgs of vitamin c acts as a antihistamine.
B3 has a little action at the GABA-A receptors...

oral dextroamphetamine(Dexedrine), Vyvanse(prodrug to d-amphetamine that has a smooth extended release action), Adderall(75% d-amphetamine and 25% l-amphetamine, tends to be more stimulating), or maybe methylphenidate(Ritalin, Concerta) are effective for chronic fatigue.

tell your doc you have trouble focusing and you always have and its affecting your work/life.

just use lower doses, and take them earlier in the day or sleeping can be difficult and that will just make fatigue worse.

I've had fatigue problems with lack of concentrations. The only thing I found that helps is Desoxyn. I haven't became tolerant to it yet and never seemed to get tolerant to it in the past which is one of the positives about it. Amphetamines/Methylphenidate Adderall, Adderall XR, Dexedrine, Dexedrine Spansules, Vyvanse, Ritalin, Ritalin SR and Concerta all I became tolerant to eventually.

yeah but asking a doctor for Desoxyn even if you have ADHD is like asking him for Seconal for insomnia, theres just too much concern about abuse that getting it is hard to do.

i have ADHD and if i were to ask for Desoxyn my doc would immediately think "addict".

how did you get your doc to script you Desoxyn?

I'm currently prescribed Desoxyn. I just asked a nurse practiconer for it. I simply told her that I heard about it and she wrote the script. My current doctor knew I used to be on it so I just asked if I could go back on it. I don't see why people think its so hard to just ask. People think for some reason that a psychiatrist will go nuts if they ask. Its not drug seeking, just searching for another medication to help. The nurse I asked for it had no idea what it was. I had to make a print out. She was really cool about it. (But I'm also real smooth with doctors, I'm an ex-doctor shopper who only quit because a fear of getting caught)
