I realize this makes no sense at all but I am finding that recently, after I take only like 20mg methyl, I get the initial alertness and then BAM out of nowhere I go into nap mode. What's confusing is this wasn't happening to me at all a week or so ago when I first went on them. Originally I had been prescribed 5mg, then bumped myself to 10 and felt better so I went ahead and bumped myself to 20. That was working really great. Had a good alert sort of buzz going, chatty and social. It was nice. Then it would run itself out and I would need to re dose to get it back. But then my day would go on like normal. No sleepiness or anything. My scrip ran out but just got refilled Thurs. Now the doc has upped me to 10mg twice a day but i have been doing 20 since that worked so well for me a week or so ago. What's bizarre is suddenly its like I am having a totally different reaction to it and I am not sure why. Yesterday I woke up, too my 20mg methyl, didn't seem to do much, later in the day took about 30mg hydrocodone which gave me a lil nod but then I was all up and alert so I popped an alprazolam but still wasn't quite there so I took another about an hour later (2g total) to get my ass to sleep. Today sort of the same. Took 20mg methyl upon waking with seemingly no effect but just a suuuuper small temp buzz and alertness. Extremely short lived. Anyway then popped some hydro later in the day. Sooo tired but took another 40mg hydro about 3 hrs later and now I can't keep my eyes open. That is fine because i assume that its just all the hydro. What has me concerned is how the methyhl is suddenly not working as well as it was and that was only a week or so ago!!

Anyway I am a little out of it so I hope this is making sense but my question here is...
Do you think its the combo of what I am doing throughout the day that is suddenly making my methyl seem to not work or did I maybe just get lucky the first few times because it was a totally new drug for me so I felt more effect for psychological reasons of "hey new exciting drug"? I also haven't been getting as much sleep the last few days but I would think that wouldn't have much effect on what the methyl does. I mean, it should wake me up regardless right?

oooh man the typos. This post took way too long to write. Wow.

Do you sleep often? Maybe your body is just worn out

I was sooo out of it when I wrote this last night. My typical sleep cycle is about 5 or 6 hrs if I can get it. Unless of course I am hit with MS fatigue and that will put me out for a whole day. Doh...
I do have a 7mo old girl so we get up often at night to feed and such but take turns and during the week, since I work and he doesn't, then he gets up with her. This morning I tried just taking 10mg of the methyl and am going to see how I do on that. After last nights mini binger I am going to stay away from all other substances today except my "required" ones. I am still fighting the iron deficiency anemia as well so I have a lot going on. Maybe my body has just had enough!

Sounds like a mix of tolerance, placebo-enhanced effects of or first doses, and the CNS depressants.

Medications like this, in the beginning, will often make you feel quite stimulated and even euphoric. That never lasts more than a week or two.

If you're using the stims to counteract the fatigue caused by your MS, your recreational use is going to bite you in the ass, ramping up your doses to a level where you're going to have to change medications.

EDIT: Also, do you have any attention deficit issues? This could explain your paradoxical reaction. In many cases, therapeutic doses of stimulant medications can have that effect on individuals with AD(H)D.

Your sleep schedule is possibly a contributing factor as well, in this case.
