It's a strain of seeds which supposedly takes 44 days to grow - thus the name. Does anyone have experience growing this stuff? I don't care about the high itself too much, as I find that, besides indica/sativa, I don't really notice the differences too much, and this will probably all be turned into hash anyway.

So does it hold what it promises? And do you know of any other strains that grow quickly? As far as I know, 3 months is the normal time, so one and a half sure seems like an improvement!

Thanks guy, keep toking :D

Yeah, 3 months is the lowest possible end of normal. Quickly growing, nearly 100% indicas take that long, only if you vegetate them very quickly and don't give them time to get too large. I've never been able to successfully produce anything in 3 months. Plus, germination can take a week sometimes, if you count that. Sativa dominant varieties can take 4 months, easily.

Sorry, can't really answer your question about Top44. Nor have I heard of it :\

what about lowryder?

has no veg phase, it is an extreme autoflowerer

it has about 5 weeks flowering, and goes straight from seedling to flowering essentially

So it takes 5 weeks to go from "cute lil seed" to "harvest time oh yeah"?

That's pretty incredible considering how long it takes normally. Is it indica or sativa - I prefer indica highs, but that's just my thing.

The '44' in top44 is referring (supposedly) to the flowering time - this does not include the time you need to grow the plant in the vegetative stage.

Lowryders are kind of neat, as a novelty, if you've ever grown them you know the high is so-so and they yeild shit because they are so small.

yeah i'v heard that, but yeah, 44 is just the flowering time

then again i think lowryder could have some potential... with some work, if you can jsut get the potency up the crap yield will be less of a problem

cross it out to some better strains and breed form the progeny that has the autoflowering trait (50% of them) and oy ucould get somethign good

with its short lifecycle this could be done in under a year, though it wouldn't be a stable strain (but just for your personal grows would possibly be fine)

Yeah I've got experience with this strain. Nirvana's version, anyway. And it can definitely be harvested in 44 days flowering time. Thing is, it may not be fully ripe yet, but it will do the trick, [...], and they are nicely thick and dense buds. From clones they just went straight into flowering and were scrogged.

There are many different phenotypes with this strain. At least one of them is bound to give you a "harvestable" plant in 44 days, but it wont necessarily be fully ripened. But this can be a good thing if, like me, you prefer more of a head-high than the body-high of a fully ripened indica.

Also, let it be known that there are other strains out there that are just as fast, and possibly better taste/high/whatever. But Top44 [... gives] you more weight, but not necessarily the best buds. [...]

I cant answer your question because it depends on growing conditions, phenotype, etc.

How much does a bag of buds weigh?

I know this is a little bit off topic but you guys were talking about forcing a plant to flower early. One of my plants about 1 and a half months into vegging was cut the amount of light it needed for a whole 2 days. I immediately put it back on the vegging cycle hoping no differences would show.
Sadly it never switched back to vegging and now this incredibly tiny plant is nearly done with flowering. :p

^wait, that makes no sence, usually takes about a week for the plants to say "its 12/12 lets flower

maybe it had autoflowering genes

2 days shouldn't do it

Top44 is just the flowering days, don't get confused. If a plant could grow full through in 44 days, full size, not like lowryder, we'd have a damn miracle on our hands.

^i now have a new life aim

If you're f-in with me, I've been up way too long to recognize any kind of sarcasm. 8(

If you aren't, I wish you luck on your new life aim.

kinda a joke but something i would like to do

unfortunately i don;t think its really feesable due to the way cannabis grows

a longer term aim i'v had would be to breed a perenial cannabis plant... possibly to fuse the zygote type cells of cannabis and hops, we all know cannabis has teh potential to be perenial, its the whole thing behind reveging a plant

The 44 days really is exaggerated. Lot's of breeders have descriptions like that, but those plants are usually far from being fully mature, it's really a commercial description meant for the big growers with little time and professional grow rooms that have ideal conditions. You shouldn't go by that time frame if you're growing a few plants for yourself or if you're growing it outside, outside always takes longer than planned due to imperfect conditions and if you're a small grower you'll benefit from the added weight if you let them go a bit longer than adviced.

Oops, sorry. That was one of the dumber things I've done in a while. I certainly never intended to imply that people should grow for profit at ALL. In fact, quite the opposite. I was really trying to say that there are better strains out there, and that the whole thing about this strain is it's hyped up by seed vendors, but it's a really unremarkable strain, and when harvested in 44 days flowering, they will simply be smokeable, but not great.

Hmmm... in my experience (knowing people who have grown of course, that aren't me), 1.5 months is about the longest it's ever taken to get to an appropriate indoor height and ready for flowering. The resulting plants, after the initial jump in height when put into flowering, were 2.5 feet tall, which seems like plenty for indoors.
