You know, as an American I always found the Russian language and culture to be charming for some reason. I'm not talking politically, but phonetically and historically. I don't really understand why, I just do.

I know Spanish well, but if I were to learn a 3rd it would be Russian. Cyrillic intimidates me, though.

I assure you that you have nothing to be intimidated off. I was grade 1-4 in ex Yugoslavia before the war started and learned Serbo-Croat (official language in ex Yugoslavia). We learnd basicaly the same spoken language but both written ones - latin script and cyrillic. To this day I can read Serbian cyrilic even though 30 years have passed. Russian cyrillic is a bit different than Serbian but they pretty much overlap. So if you really have interest go for it. 🙂
