Hello everyone!

I started playing piano when I was about 7 and fell in love with it ever since. I do my best to play everyday and keep my skills sharp. It's too beautiful of an instrument to walk away from. However, I find it hard to find music I enjoy playing these days so I was hoping maybe some of you could open my eyes to some new songs I could get into?

I'll admit I can be extremely picky when it comes to choosing a song to learn but I tend to steer towards New Age/Contemporary/Classical songs. Difficulty is not an issue, I just find most music produced in these categories from today's times to be kind of boring because it sounds so bland and dry. The ones that have stuck with me though are the types of songs that I hope to find and fall in love with all over again. I'll post a few links and list some composers to songs that I play to give an idea of what I'm looking for. I have been using Google searches and YouTube for years and just end up getting disappointed in the end.

Ludovico Einaudi: Divenire http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z1JlofMpx38 ***One of the most beautiful songs I've found in a very long time. Einaudi is just incredible and I'm have so much fun learning it.***

George Winston - February Sea: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_eI6-L38EPo ***This song is the first song I ever learned in this kind of genre. It has a jazzy and new age-ish feel to it. I love it***

Jon Schmidt: All of Me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9fAZIQ-vpdw ***This is one of my all time favorite songs to play and learn. It took me so many years and it was worth every single second. Truly impressive and just so much fun to listen to. It's called "All of Me" because you really do use all of yourself such as your forearms and elbows haha yes I know it's odd but you'll understand when you see the video.***

Plus on a side note, I'd love to connect with anyone who is into music as heavily as I am. I don't have many friends that play music so it would be very nice!

I would also love to hear anyone's input on what you like to play or maybe even suggestions of a different kind. I don't limit myself to what I posted above but I find it most enjoyable mainly due to the fact I can give myself chills down my spine if I do it right.

Thanks everyone,
Hope to hear from y'all soon!

Nice thread
Gotta post a few favorites real quick

James Booker - St Jame Infirmary

Also I love how a lot of Radiohead is piano driven, Thom can do it all though

He wrote this song at home after going grocery shopping with his wife, it's about her almost dropping some items and he's telling her to let it fall at the end but if you listen closely you can hear her cutting up the veggies

Thom Yorke - How I made My Millions

Radiohead - Living In A Glass House

Cat Power - Maybe Not

Cat Power - Names

I could prolly just keep finding piano driven songs I love but I'll end this post for now.

traditional rock and roll music with piano is definitely my favorite genre

nicky hopkins is my favorite(played with quicksilver, was featured on several rolling stone hits, and played with the jerry garcia band form october-december in 1975, was kicked out, mostly for being too much of a drunk)

tough mama(dyan cover) - jerry garcia band 10-17-75, the piano work is so great!

the only song i can completely play on piano, kind of

Oh my! I wasn't expecting so many replies!! Haha you guys rock!! I love this site more and more, each and every day I use it. I truly do love it here :)

I'm sorry I haven't responded yet since I've been super busy with work lately and haven't even had time to breath basically haha. I'm going to start going through these posts now and see what you all put out here!! I'm so excited to see what's been available since I can honestly say I've never heard of most, if not all of these pieces!

Thanks so much again everyone, I really do appreciate it :)

Starting now, I'll get through as much as I can and see if I can find anything I absolutely love and just hits that ever-so-sweet spot :) If I don't get to you tonight, It's because I dozed off from working 10 hours today haha but don't you worry! You'll each get a very special response, I promise!!!

Love you all,
JPaz <3

EDIT: On a side note, if any of you would like to hear me play any of these pieces, I would be more than happy to upload them to a certain place on the site if there is one (I'm still learning) so bear with me haha. If there isn't then I'll make a special YouTube channel just for you guys <3

why should I be afraid of dying? there's no reason. we all gotta go sometime . . .

^ *Clare Torry

I only recently found out she's a skinny white lady, which blew me away. I thought only large black women could sing like that.

If any of you guys like Kingdom Hearts, you NEED to hear this. It blew me away! I'd kill to play this but unfortunately, I can't play by ear and there is no sheet music for this rendition of a medley. I could listen to this on repeat for days.

Incredible.

The second I heard this start I fell in instant love and had to comment immediately. This. is. absolutely. incredible. I can not thank you enough for introducing me to this. This is definitely making it on my To-Do list. I love it! Thank you thank you thank you haha :-)

^ No problem. Kyle Landry is a fantastic pianist, he plays so delicately and passionately it's really amazing.

What a beautiful arrangement. Kingdom Hearts had a lovely soundtrack.

I shed a tear.

Just fyi, there are some free sheets for a few individual Kingdom Hearts pieces on Kyle Landry's website if that's of any help. http://www.kylelandry.com/?p=sheets

And I'd love for you to play any of the tunes I posted above!
