Hello everyone!
I started playing piano when I was about 7 and fell in love with it ever since. I do my best to play everyday and keep my skills sharp. It's too beautiful of an instrument to walk away from. However, I find it hard to find music I enjoy playing these days so I was hoping maybe some of you could open my eyes to some new songs I could get into?
I'll admit I can be extremely picky when it comes to choosing a song to learn but I tend to steer towards New Age/Contemporary/Classical songs. Difficulty is not an issue, I just find most music produced in these categories from today's times to be kind of boring because it sounds so bland and dry. The ones that have stuck with me though are the types of songs that I hope to find and fall in love with all over again. I'll post a few links and list some composers to songs that I play to give an idea of what I'm looking for. I have been using Google searches and YouTube for years and just end up getting disappointed in the end.
Ludovico Einaudi: Divenire http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z1JlofMpx38 ***One of the most beautiful songs I've found in a very long time. Einaudi is just incredible and I'm have so much fun learning it.***
George Winston - February Sea: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_eI6-L38EPo ***This song is the first song I ever learned in this kind of genre. It has a jazzy and new age-ish feel to it. I love it***
Jon Schmidt: All of Me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9fAZIQ-vpdw ***This is one of my all time favorite songs to play and learn. It took me so many years and it was worth every single second. Truly impressive and just so much fun to listen to. It's called "All of Me" because you really do use all of yourself such as your forearms and elbows haha yes I know it's odd but you'll understand when you see the video.***
Plus on a side note, I'd love to connect with anyone who is into music as heavily as I am. I don't have many friends that play music so it would be very nice!
I would also love to hear anyone's input on what you like to play or maybe even suggestions of a different kind. I don't limit myself to what I posted above but I find it most enjoyable mainly due to the fact I can give myself chills down my spine if I do it right.
Thanks everyone,
Hope to hear from y'all soon!
