ANyone know of any natural benzo, anxiety type supplments. Such as St Johns Wort works well for some people as a natural Anti Depressant, is there any natural supplement that works well for anxiety/

maybe valerian root, kava... Also, while chamomile tea is relatively ineffective for someone who has a tolerance to benzos, combined with valerian and kava it can provide temporary relief of mild anxiety, in my experience...

Is valerian root and kava at weis or shoprites? walmarts?

maybe in a capsule form, but I have found herbal capsules to be way less effective than a tincture or tea. If you go to a health food store or a co-op, you can buy kava and valerian in it's loose-leaf form, or in the form of a tincture. Sublingually a tincture could be just what you need..

Hmm okay, by tincture you mean a liquid? I think they sell kava tea, is there a valerian root tea as well?

I have a Tea that has Valerian Root Etrack, 20mg per bag. Is that a lot or not much? What are daily doses of kava and valerian root that are effective in a tea

Im goin to the vitamin shoppe for the tinctures, anything else i should get while im there/

skullcap is said to help ease benzo and pheno withdrawl,
but from my experience its real subtle,
i'd go and find some top quality kava product,

i would do some research and find a quality on line herbal vendor,
fuck that vitamin shoppe crap, :p
blech
i would say your wasting your money at vitamin shop,
but if you insist on going there, maybe pick up some GABA , too, and melatonin for sleep

I think tinctures are your best bet... A tincture is very simple, just dried herbs or root soaked in alcohol for a long period of time.

When I was really dopesick and trying to stay away from pharmaceutical aid, I was taking a tincture that was a mixture of skullcap, valerian, kava, passionflower, and chamomile flowering tops. I would mix it with a hot cup of chamomile-lavender tea and feel significant relief... Another interesting sedative herb commonly available in tincture form is ashwaganda, which I found to be helpful and very relaxing. It is actually related to the somniferous opium poppy families.

Don't forget about california poppy! The best for anxiety IMO! Cali poppies grow wild where I live and I make enough tincture to last me year in big mason jars...

good luck and good on you for looking for herbal relief....

I've found that really only legit kava in large doses to b effective, in my case powdered, 2 tablespoons ( may be off, memory is foggy) in water down the hatch, once I got high as hell off the fijian kava. The caps were ineffective, the tea seemed better (both from the vshoppe) but may of been placebo. I find valerian caps to slightly help but to b honest may b placebo as well. Tho I'm on Xanax 90mg a mth and most times another 50mg of Ativan as well but have not developed a dependency in the 10mths I've been on this regimen in addition to the smt I'm on.

Well i take one and a half klonopins a day so i have that help. But I'd rahter ween down to one a day or less than that a day and get off of them for good and get a natural medicine that works well. I went to where the Vitamin SHoppe was, and it was hone :| . so i went to GNC n they only have valerian root tincture so i bought that.

Can anyone point me to a website or brand that is the absolute best and what supplements i should buy? I know Valerian Root and Kava, but I also heard a few others. I don't want a bunch of different stuff, if the valerian and kava is all i need then ill just get that, but whatever are the best ones can someone tell me or point me in the right direction? Thanks alot

Look into Rhodiola Rosea - a proven anxiolytic and antidepressant you can take indefinitely. It has been used mainstream by Russians for a long time now. It has a strong pharmacological effect if you get a good brand (check reviews, some are rubbish), but pure Siberian root powder is best since it contains constituents that while have no effect on their own, actually synergise with the main components.

Kava is a great alternative to benzos if you get something 30% or 84% Kavalactones - in fact is good for memory too.

L-Theanine is also anxiolytic with no sedative effects. Taking 200-400mg results in some ataxia but no sedation - it is definitely psychoactive, look up the wiki. Induces a very pleasant 'meditative' alpha brain-wave state, and can cancel out the negative side effects of too much caffeine/stims.

Tofisopam is a new benzo-derivative with no sedation, amnesia, or motor-impairment, but strong anxiolytic properties! Of course this is not natural but it lacks the disadvantages that were turning me off benzos for sure! :)

If you are turned off by the adictive nature of benzos but herbal things aren't doing enough to control your anxiety I would recommend talking to you dr about hydroxyzine. It's an antihistamine with some very good properties for reducing anxiety. And because of the class of medication it is you don't have to worry about addiction and withdrawls and all of that. The only bad side effects you could expect would be being more tired than usual while you adjust to it.

Best of luck, I know what a bitch anxiety can be.

I have a ton of hydroxyzine tabs, they don't work very well, let's say they're subtle...

Anyway I want to try chamomille tea, it may be stronger (all that is IME, everybody is different).

i got this sencha green tea, its expensive, but a cup or two of that, puts me at ease when im feeling anxious,

kava worx the most, all that stuff helps sum though.kava powder bought online tends 2 b the strongest.
