anyone here live in austin? or visit frequently?

has anyone ever driven downtown via lamar going north?

does anyone know why they have those blue things on the sides of this one underbridge area? (the one with the heart painted in the middle)

i have no idea what to call them and its hard to explain...

some say its art. ive been told before that its for wind purposes. also when the sunlight hits them perfectly it makes something happen.

i have no idea... im so curious tho!

I used to live in Killeen and went down there alot. I don't remember any blue things on the road under the brigde though.

I used to be in Austin every weekend, but I don't remember ever seeing any of the blue things you described.

your asking people if they are a rare secondary mineral (brown, colorless, green, yellowish white, or white) found in the oxidized zone of some arsenic-rich base-metal deposits?

ha! i found something!

Best Unnecessary Blue Rectangles: Moments on Lamar (Critics Picks, Architecture & Lodging, 2003)
Driving under the Lamar bridge had been the same for years. Sure, an occasional train passed overhead, and graffiti additions appeared now and again, but when the blue rectangles arrived, we nearly wrecked our SUVs. Austin Art in Public Places has brought Carl Trominsky's piece, Moments, to life. Made of industrial road parts, it is at once organic and perplexing. Why are the angles so dissimilar? Where is the pattern? There is none – yet, there sort of is ... and that may very well be the point.

That is really cool. Wish I was down there for SXSW but have to work up here in Big D. Ah well.
