Another odd test result

Hi all, hoping someone can help me work out whats going on here...

went to test some stuff the other night, sadly a mate has borrowed by marquis so only using mandelin and mekke. Both reagents went purple (rather than black) very quickly but with a red tinge around the outside. In addition, the tested substance smelt very, very strongly of aniseed. At the time, I figured that all of this pointed to MDMA that had been badly reacted. However...

when I first tested it, it was a bit sticky. now its totally dried out, I've re-tested, it fizzes violently and smokes (which I don't think it did first time round) but has practically no colour change. mandelin goes a little pinky, but +30s or so. Still smells very aniseedy.

Have also tested the reagents using a control sample, both went black immediately so I know they are good.

Can anyone suggest what on earth this is to give different results at different times?

thanks!

Initially a sorta putty-ish rock, has gone to powder now it's dried put

forgot to add before, simons goes blue, but not all that quickly, I'll post photos tomorrow. very confuzzled by it all.

Do pips react with simons? I'll be honest, have usually been able to identify them before a secondary amines so haven't ever done one on suspected pips. Wouldn't surprise me though, and guessing the aniseed smell is a deliberate aditative to confuse people?
