Heroin Another Complication with IV Heroin

i can honestly say i am thru with injecting this shit into my veins for a while. i am so sick of all these god damn IV complications everytime I try to inject black tar heroin. i have a huge tolerance and have been on suboxone for the past 2 years, but i chip here and there. well i've been doing it a lot more than i usually do lately and finally got some new fresh rigs...

well tonight i ended up slamming the .6g i had over the course of 2 hrs and i'm only somewhat high now. but the last shot i did, i registered about 10 times while doing the shot, didn't feel any pain whatsoever, and i don't feel any pain really until i extend my arm with my palm up (i shot into the right side of my left forearm). if i extend my arm with palms down it doesn't hurt at all.

also, i used no. 27 malboro cigarettes as a filter for cotton since i didn't have any (i have done this in the past w/ no issues), so could that maybe be the issue here? it feels like my vein is being strained or pulled on or something when i twist my forearm counter-clockwise...

8)i don't understand why this shit always happens to me! i fucking registered 10 times and pushed very slowly to make absolute sure this bullshit wouldn't happen and yet it still does. my arm looks completely fine, it just hurts as i described above...anybody have any idea what the fuck could've happened? i used to use the vein i shot into a lot around 2-3 years ago, but it was bulging nicely so i went for that same vein.:(

oh yeah and it doesn't hurt at my injection site, it hurts about 6 inches up my vein/arm from the injection site. this is very strange and i'm growing very concerned, especially since i've heard about this fiberglass in the cig filters in the past (which i remember reading on here that it wasn't true - which i hope it isn't)....

Ugh. Oh man. 8)

First of all by registering "like 10 times" you are, especially if it's in the same spot, gouging a bigger and bigger hole in your vein. You're also doing more damage to surrounding tissues. You could be hitting nerves, ligaments/tendons, and you're introducing more germs/bacteria/viruses than you need to.

Now your immune system has to deal with more bacteria AND ten puncture holes AND surrounding tissue damage. No wonder it hurts away from the site.

It's easy to forget that registering is 100 times easier when A) you're using shorts not longs (unless you're fat) and B) you're inserting at an angle that is as comfortably paralell to your arm as possible, i.e. 30 degrees about.

I also hope you know that suboxone has an opiod antagonist and you have to time your use very carefully in order to get any effect and even still it's diminished.

Good thing you used the .27 marlboro filter and not the DuMaurier!!! Because... they're all the same - absolutely terrible for your body. It adds bad filter fibres into the mix, not to mention whatever crap we don't know is in cigarette filters. It also lets through particulate matter from the junk itself.

Then you say "I don't understand why this shit always happens to me!"

READ EVEN MORE. I don't care how much you think you know about shooting drugs. If you're going to use (you shouldnt hardy har har) then go read TEN different safe use guides from varied countries and organisations and discuss more online.

Right now you're risking your personal health way more than you have to. (Really though, you don't "have to" AT ALL).

edit - Hey, first post, I had no idea :3

i realize using a cigarette filter is not the best thing i could do of course, but when i'm in the addict frame of mind it's very difficult to be thinking about the future consequences. i don't understand how registering 10x would damage my vein even more, along with the surrounding tissue...? this feels different than just some discomfort, it's actually rather quick and sharp pain as soon as i twist my forearm a certain way. it almost feels as if there's something lodged in my veins and that's what's freaking me out the most right now. i don't know though because my arm looks completely fine from the outside...if i went to a doctor, how would they ever even know what is wrong if we can't see anything wrong from the outside...?

I think the OP meant he pulled the plunger back 10 times while administering the shot, to make sure he was still in the vein throughout the entire shot.

I sometimes get a sensation that feels like when you hit your funny bone, if I tie off too tight when registering.

is the pain around the part of your arm that you tied off?

Pulling the plunger back repeatedly does put strain on your veins. I do register at the beginning, sometimes the middle, and at the end, but even if I don''t, usually you can instantly feel a burning sensation if you "slip" out of the vein (or through it).

Maybe the cigarette filter didn't filter the dope out that good..or you hit a tendon or nerve which you have a lot of in your hands, wrists, forearms.

I usually instantly get a tingling/numbing sensation if I hit a nerve and the times I did accidentally do that (no idea how I even did) part of my hand actuall ywent numb for a solid few hours.

It's hard to say what really happened, but the fact that there is no red or swelling at the injection site probably means you got your shot off good, maybe you dug around a little? Needle should go on a straight path in, and out slowly.

Don't pull the plunger back to far to register, all you need is a flash of blood (only a trickle and you should pull out, find a new vein).

Did you ever shoot higher up in your arm recently? Sometimes lets say you shoot int he crook of your arm ,and hit the saME VEIN further down closer to your hand shit will leak out as it travels up your body.

Also, if you are not loosening the tourniquet BEFORE shooting that could be you rprob right there. Shit backing up in veins, could blow your vein out like that

i am having the same problem i shot up h and my elbow went numb but a few inches up my arm in my vein it hurts and it hurts when open and close my arm like its pulling on my vein and im just wondering how it turned out because this has never happened to me before.

Sorry for bumping an older thread, but I have a question relating to the OPs problem. First off I have a friend who always filters his shots that way, and besides the fact that his shots are always cloudy and unclean, it just seems like an extremely unsafe thing to use as a filter. So I have 2 questions: does anyone know for sure what cigarette filters are made of? And does anyone have experience filtering this way with or without complications?

^I think the best thing you could do for him is head to CVS and grab a little pack of generic q-tips. The small packs are around a buck.
I realize it's a ingrained habit for him at this point, but if his shots are cloudy, he's gotta knock that shit off.
A friend of mine that would do the same thing occasionally said she liked that she could stick it on the end of the point. I showed her, and routinely do the same thing with the cotton from a q-tip. I pull off a bb to pea sized piece, roll it up tight, and stick it halfway down the needle. I've got a little cooker similar to a tiny pasta pot. When my shot's ready, I tip it so the liquid pools, stick the cotton in a little ways, and get a clear shot. Colored, obviously, but not cloudy.
I realize I didn't directly answer your questions. My point is, there's just no reason to use cigarette filters when a better option is readily available.

try a hot compress on the area that hurts. If it gets warm (as in an infection) or the pain continues for more than 24 hours, you should really see a doctor.
This is the point where I would usually close this, but I will leave er open for a bit.
