Fellow Bluelighters.
I have been on here for 3 months, I'm busy hence I don't come on all the time.
How addictive are amphetamines compared to Cannabis?
How addictive do you all think Cannabis is?

Second off, I took Amphetamines 3-5 times not over 5. Probably around 4 times, first 3 times I started off slow 1-2 lines I will say average one line. Last time I took Amphetamines I probably did 4-7 lines I was drinking whiskey and getting drunk I admit I lost count but I did .2 to .25 g maybe .3 G. This was Amphetamine Sulphate not Methamphetamine. I did this all due to Celebrating birthdays partying etc. This was a while back a bit over 2 months ago in early June. Since then I haven't touched amphetamines I've been playing Sports going to the gym, swimming on and off. Working , Gaming with video games hanging with my family.Priorities in life. I thought about amphetamines a couple of times in this 2 month period but never did I have a significant craving or any kind of withdrawal symptom. I realized I will never touch that stuff cause I know how it Fs people up. So how addictive is it? and How will someone know they are getting addicted to it?
How can I keep myself away from addiction? just avoid at all costs correct?
I was enjoying myself in other ways hanging out with friends, family and doing the other things I love and I realized that having a few nights of partying fun on Amphetamines isn't worth ruining my life. I might as well stick to softer drugs, Mushrooms, Kratom and occasional weed.
Am I right on this?

Well at first it's for fun and then you start to get a tolerence then you need it just to get out of bed and be motivated.

Stick with weed.

Stay away from meth.

Meth is addictive and can ruin your life and destroy who you are.

I think he's talking about normal street speed in the UK which is generally amphetamine Sulphate and a whole load of other dangerous chemicals bunged into it.

Considering you're thinking about it actively and to say you've danced with the devil in the sense you have taken it before, only you can gauge how addictive it is for yourself personally.

It's easy to spiral out of control with amphetamine. Once you've tried the pure stuff and you start to use it frequently, the devil will win. In my opinion its the most addictive drug in the world, along with meth. There is no other drug that if I don't take I don't think about. I have ADHD and take the pure dexamphetamine at low doses.

When I stop taking them for a long period of time, I just relate back to all the positives it did for me and how shit life is without it.

Yup and amp addiction has a nasty way of only letting you see the "good" times when u were on it, and forces you to forget all the tweaked out bullshit that comes with speed, esp methamp. If you havnt felt cravings then stop now and never look back. Consider yourself lucky.

The addictiveness of a drug depends on how well it fits what you want to be. Listen for the part of your mind which doesn't sound like you if you want to head of addiction. This region is where the drug makes its home when you introduce it to your brain, and is additionally the part which the drug makes into its own likeness when you start to become in danger of being addicted. It will implant messages in your brain which carry a tone unlike yours. To distinguish can be very difficult.

Addiction all depends on the individual's personality. I personally just realized i was addicted to meth the other day. And what i learned is that amphetamines are just too powerful of a drug not to "fall in love" with.

^this

amphetamines were too "right" for me: they get me awake and motivated, sociable, happy and productive, all things that i was normally not, and i used them to get high at first, but then i took them just to "function", if thats what you wanna call it, i was barely functional when i used stimulants daily.

I find the most addictive drugs are the ones that are ore subtle, which is why it's so easy for people to fall into an adictive pattern with drugs like amphetamine's, benzodiazepine's or opiates. None of these substances make you hallucinate or really go too fucking crazy (well at least not in the begining-stimulant induced psychosis can be pretty nuts). It is often easy at first to function, sometimes better while under the influence of these drugs without even drawing suspicion that you are intoxicated. But like others have said, eventually there comes a time when life starts to seem harder and harder without them, until it's just straight up unbarable.

And to answer your other questions, it is hella addictive. Amphetamines imo are the most addictive substances. Even more so than tobacco, i could have a smoke here and there but if i load up my pipe and start turnin just once then im royally fucked. The only reason it is really that addictive is because you feel soooooo good on it that you just want that feeling more and more. Next thing you know your up for 3 days with hallucinations and delirium peeking through your blinds looking for the cops that are out to get you.

And to tell if you are addicted is extremely hard. While on the drug you never think that you are addicted. You just think that youre having a good time thats all.

I realized i was addicted to amp's when my friends said they couldnt associate with me anymore because of the drug.

Stimulants give you a lot of social *push*. They'd be more addictive for people who have trouble feeling like they're worth holding their own. Yet really this broad class of chemicals is just stress.

Amphetamines along with opioids are the two most psychologically addictive group of drugs, IME. They both creep up on you and before you know it you're hooked. Amphetamines are especially insidious as they completely distort your thought processes - deceiving you into believing that everything is just fine and dandy and that it's not YOU that has a problem it's EVERYONE else. At least with opioids you kind of know you're fucked, but with amphetamines you continue to delude yourself until god knows when. I've found that heavy amphetamine abuse makes one extremely obstinate, stubborn and an aggressive know-it-all. The very worst amphetamine addicts can be one of the most unpleasant human beings imaginable, displaying extreme paranoia, arrogance, autocratic pride, haughtiness, and an explosive temper. If jealously suspicious of anyone, they will not hesitate to use cunning, lies and trickery to discredit them. Self-centeredness, unpredictability, greed and demand for flattery, boastfulness, and bombast, pomposity, snobbish superiority, and overbearing, and intolerant disdain of underlings; to whom they will nevertheless delegate the carrying out of minor details in their grandiose schemes, and from whom they are not above borrowing immoderately if an occasion necessitates it. Mix that up with an animalistic desire for sex and you get a person whose impossible to deal with. This is why meth addicts are reputed to be the most difficult to treat.

I am also looking to define the addiction, specifically the physical addiction. I have had a stim addiction for 7 years, it manifests by a uncontrollable craving whenever i have drunk alot of alcohol, fortunately i never crave sober which is my saving grace. Originally it was shitty coke, then replaced with cat, and recently i replaced the cat with good crystal. Now been doing the crystal for about 2 months, once a week, 2 days on weekends and I have not noticed any more of a physical addiction. Im guessing i just replaced the stim addiction with another product then? But when do you get withdrawals, or are withdrawals with meth simply the comedown?

"Crystal Meth is not known to be physically addictive. In most cases it takes between twenty four and forty eight hours for the drug to process through a person's system after the last dose is taken. While Crystal Meth withdrawal symptoms can be very intense, they are generally psychological in nature. The addict going through the withdrawal process will experience symptoms of anxiety, agitation, sleeplessness, and intense cravings for the drug."

Above is a quote that pretty much answers your question and describes exactly how I felt when quitting crystal meth.

As some mentioned above, the chemicals which –"mesh well with a day-to-day (or night-to-night) life"– possess potential for the development of the dependence/abuse/addiction triad. These chemicals can easily become a part of "routine life" in ways that are previously unimaginable. It often surprises - once one or more chemicals 'sneak' their way into daily routines.

Cannabis is a separate story with its specific facets.

Well I've seen a few cases of opioid and amphetamine addiction on campus and they kind of go like this:
1) drug is used to mask a problem or to enhance performance
2) tolerance sets in and escalating doses are taken to maintain desired effects
3) dependence sneaks up on you

I've never done meth but have done plenty of dextroamphetamine sulphate.... im rxed 20mg dextrostat 4x a day... i take about 120 mg now on average but have gone up to 200-250 in a 24 hr period..... binging with it gets bad....
8 years of amphetamines.. i must say I am addicted to them... the craving and fatigue/depression/lethargy when I do not have it is horrible... I rode my bicycle 10 miles today just to get it... and the pharmacy was closed... nevertheless i still got it..

its bad,...

even as a rx its still addictive... either way, you begin to need it... it becomes a never ending cycle... its the most addictive psychologically speaking, to me anyways.. im also in suboxone treatment, so i am dependent to opiods but amphetamines have the most control and you don't even realize it... or care... it has the lowest percentage of successfully beating for a reason...

It all depends on you, do you have an addictive personality?

I cant use pretty much any drugs without becoming addicted, why? because i have an addictive personality.

Soft or hard drugs doesnt matter, i would take mushrooms everyday during mushroom season years ago.....

Amphetamines are very addictive but if your unsure if your addicted to something then your answer is that you probably are not.
