I've heard that this drug can be toxic in overdose and is really bad for you if you abuse it and takes loads.

I've had 100mg today (2x50mg tablets about 5 hours ago) along with a couple of valium and a bag of H.

Nodded off nicely for and hour or so and woke up still feeling nice and monged/chilled.

Will I still be alright having a couple before bed?

Also what do you people usually find is a nice dosage to drift off into a nice kip .... I often have trouble sleeping!

I've got 10mg diazepam left too.

If u havent already OD'd then ur probably alright unless u have problems breathing in ur sleep , idk much about this drug but I kno a fair bit about H/Valium and ur probably alright , maybe leave the 10 mg leftover Valium for a rainy day ?

Careful man. I'm sure you have heard it all before, but mixing depressants is very dangerous. Both the amitryptaline and especially the Valium will increase the respiratory depression of heroin. Valium can take several hours to reach full effect, and will linger in your system a long time after you stop feeling the main effects. I'm not trying to tell you what to do, just be mindful of your doses and your body's response. I have known too many people that have died this way.

Yeah man cheers, it's not something I'd usually do but I was stressed today and common sense kinda just went outta the window, you know how it is sometimes right?

Sometimes I'll have a couple of valium with my bag of smoke but thats only like .3 of H and 20mg of valium and that's alreet for me I think, don't usially add amitriptyline into the mix but my dealer sorted me out with some today along with the blues and H.

This was ages ago now so if I'm having trouble sleeping later I should be alright to have 50mg amitryptaline right?

possibly would be okay, but like said before valium builds up and stays in the system for a long time, so as long as you take the ami on its own with nothing else, but its still risky in my humble opinion

100mg of amitriptyline is a fairly large dose. It's a sedative, and mixing it with opiates is asking for trouble if you don't know how much to take (ie if you don't have experience with amitriptyline AND opiates). Plus there are some less than funny secondary effects with this drug (dry mouth, urinary retention like with opiates, and so on).

Does amitriptyline cause auditory hallucinations like Cogentin and cyproheptadine?

Amitriptyline really isn't ideal for making you feel nice and drowsy.. it does have sedative properties, but they tend to wear off fairly fast and as Loulou said it has a lot of side effects which can be unpleasant. It's also very dangerous in overdose - more because it can cause cardiac arrhythmias than due to it's sedating properties, but combining it with CNS depressants is probably not a wise plan at all.

50mg+ is an antidepressant dose (usual dosage range 50mg-200mg) - lower doses are often prescribed for pain. I really wouldn't take this drug for sedation but if you are, I would try 50mg and see how you go. I know have taken 100mg before but you might not need that much so best to start low. I really wouldn't go taking it for sleep especially at higher doses though..

edit: Don't snort it. Really can't see any benefit (no rush, not a recreational drug at all) and I doubt it would be very effective. You'll just get a load of filler/binder clogging your sinuses.

It's really not a recreational drug.

Not really using it looking for recreation, more for sleep aid...I'm a terrible sleeper and can't afford to buy any benzos at the minute but I do have 6x50mg amitriptyline tablets.

Ah yeah, sorry I was a bit emphatic there :D sleep aid could work, but the sedative effects tend to wear off fast. You should be okay taking 50-100mgs, but the side effects can get quite unpleasant after this. It shouldn't be dangerous at this dose, but I wouldn't mix it with other downers again just in case.

Hope you get some sleep :)

150mg's of amitriptyline is the maximum recommended outpatient dose. Mixing it with other sedatives will increase the drowsiness caused by amitriptyline which is already pretty overpowering. I was on amitriptyline for 2 years and the sedating effect never really went away so it's a good sleeping pill atleast. It's not recreational in the least however as it's just another tricyclic with strong anti-cholinergic properties.

Interesting that the sedation didn't go away PA, I'll remember that, I don't know many people on it but it did for them. Not sure what doses they were taking though.. definitely a good idea to keep it low.
