Ethnobotanicals Amanita Muscaria dried cap dosage?

I was able to find some Amanita Muscaria this season. I picked and dried 3 caps which came out to about 14 grams total. I dried them at 170f which took about 10 hours.

I've never tried Amanita before. I'm wondering what a good dosage would be to test the waters? Not looking for anything too crazy, just dipping my toes in. Looking for something (hopefully) relaxing for my first time. I'm not looking to trip at all. I would be combining with kratom but as far as I know that shouldn't be a problem.

Also, would Amanita possibly be beneficial as a comfort med for opioid withdrawal? I'm working on a kratom taper. From what I read amanita might be helpful to get some sleep. I've never heard of anyone using it for opioid withdrawal so if anyone has experience in that regard please do let me know.
 
From my experience, what you have should be a threshold experience. However, depending on harvest area, size, time, etc, the muscimol values are highly subject to change. For instance, caps picked in spring are reported (by scientific data) to be some 10 or more times stronger than those picked in fall. My suggestion is to finely powder and mix all the caps together, and this mixture will have much more standardized dosage. Then start with like 1/3 of the shit and see what happens
 
Also make sure to decarb them before ingesting it.

Basicly simmer them hot water for 3h with some lemon or lime juice.
That will convert the ibotenic acid into muscimol.
Takes away most of the side effects and gives you more of the good actives.


I usually do 1-2g to relax and help with sleep, i recomend with starting with 2-3g at most.
If you consume cannabis then it will really boost the effects btw.

Ive done heavier doses a few times, but nothing i really recomend tbh.
Its nothing like a regular psychedelic, its quite weird and you can get quite delirius if you push it.

I mostly use it for its relaxing and sleep/dream inducing qualites at lower doses.
 
Amanita is a most regal shroom, you can read about its uses in so many cultures around the globe. in the European countries its use dates back thousands of years. I live on the welsh borders and my studies of Amanita Muscaria was so entwined in ancient Welsh Culture , The Druids called it Soma the divine shroom . At 61 years old and quite experienced with Fly Agaric I must agree with the Ancients. I imbibe various shrooms but Amanita I feel has a totally different make up compared to Liberty and golden teacher type shrooms ,, Im pretty sure the chemical make up is different to. I look at Amanita as a European ayhuasca experience. As everything you physically imbibe , do your research and start small, you can add with these things, but you can never take away.
From experience , Amanita can and is used for depression in smaller controlled dosage to full on Hallucinogens and spiritual experience very much like DMT but for a much longer amount of time.
I very much respect The Amanita and hope your journey to understanding them and their benefits was as successful as mine !

I had them in the oven for 10 hours for the drying process, would that not be enough to decarb them?
I do still plan on making a tea when I try them as I heard it significantly reduces nausea, but 3 hours is quite a long time.

I'm confident that they are Amanita Muscaria but there's still that little worry in the back of my mind that I picked something poisonous, so I'll start low to help get over that anxiety. Unfortunately I cant really handle cannabis these days. Almost always causes me anxiety if I smoke more than 1 or 2 hits, but if the Amanita helps quell anxiety then I may give it a shot.

My personal experience is that just drying them doesnt decarb it enough.

Ive used to just make tea and had decent effects in the past.
Bit adding something acidic and simulering them longer made a huge difference.

I usually make bigger batches of around 30g dried nowadays.
Then i freeze them into icecubes so ever cube is arom 2-3g.
That way i can easily just mix a cube with some hot water when i want a dose.

So i take 1.5-2 cups of water with 1/2 ounce of apple cider vinegar or lemon juice(depends how concentrated you want the tea)(remember some burns off) and put in 2-4gs of amanita dried caps and ill steep them just below boiling so 170-200 degrees for 30 min then ill take them off the heat for another 30 while they cool.. then add some cinnamon and or honey for flavor and enjoy… looking for the exact still so will link when found

Much appreciated. That's similar to what I've heard other places. I'll give that method a go when I give these a shot. Maybe this weekend
