Bupe Am I almost home free from suboxone tapering?

I started taking suboxone about 3 years ago to treat a heavy heroin addiction. I started out on 16mgs a day (8mg strips twice per day). I was taking this dose regularly till up to about 3 months ago when I started to titrate down to 6mgs in the morning and 4mgs at night.

For whatever reason I decided that IV'ing the suboxone would make tapering easier (also possibly chasing a high) so I began shooting 1mg three times per day for about a week. Then I tapered down to 1mg twice per day, then .5mg three times a day, and now I am at .25mg three times a day.

I have been on .25mg 3x/day for about a week and I'm a bit nervous taking the next step. Say I was to taper to .25mg twice per day. Would missing the afternoon dose be a real bitch to deal with? Surprisingly I have not had any bad effects from this rather rapid taper.

What can I expect in the next few weeks? I've heard when you get down to this level it gets rather difficult. I would love to be completely bupe free within the next month and a half. Any suggestions for doing this?

Thanks guys!

I don't think you'll have too much of a problem eliminating one of the doses. You can always go to using the less dose every other day until you get more used to it.

I think it's easier to taper when you're at the point you're at. I think people start getting impatient and start seeing that the WDs aren't that bad so they just jump off. Except that if you don't taper right the WDs last a while and even though they're not unbearable they will be enough to break most people after a few days.

You're doing great. Keep it up!

Awesome! Good to hear. Hopefully this will go smoothly.
