I have recently come a across a cheap supplier of xanax but he only sells in bulk 100 2mg bars min i really enjoy xanax but do not want to get addicted to it, i will admit i have a problem with self control im woried if i got 100 bars that i would get addicted in your experience would that get you addicted if i took 2mgs a day if that would how could i not get addicted.
more info i have a very high natural tolerence for xanax i can take 8mg and still function ill be blitz but i wont black out or loose it

Be cautious, the first time I got my hand on xanax the doctor scripted me .25mg pills twice a day for 2 months, I didn't get addicted because of the low dosage I imagine, 2mg is a whole different thing here, even if it doesn't seem to mess you up, it will def show once you don't take it past a month in taking it everyday...be assured...

Even taking 2mg a day for 2 months could potentially result in seizures upon withdrawal (which obviously implies a level of physical addiction).

IMO I would only recommend taking benzos for a medical purpose (anxiety/insomnia/panic etc.) under doctor supervision. Benzodiazepines are simply not worth pursuing as a recreational substance. The risk:benefit analysis is way our of your favor.

I've been on Xanax for nearly twenty years. Addicted? Call it what you will. Dependent? Definitely. Since my physician prescribes it for panic attacks, GAD, and PTSD, I know that if I were to suddenly stop taking it, I'd be at risk for life-threatening seizures.

One of the problems with having non-Rx access to those seductive 2mg bars (I'm prescribed 1mg tablets) is, what if you no longer have access? What if your supplier leaves town? Two mg is a high dosage to start on for anyone... please be careful! That's a LOT!

Don't do this. 90 percent chance you black out at some point and eat the whole stash. Something bad may happen or you just may sleep a while. Benzos really aren't worth chasing for a high because the high goes away so quickly and the addiction is very unforgiving. Not to mention many people with little experience take some Xanax and wind up in the hospital or jail with no idea why. You only get one life man.

2mg is a very high dose to start with. Xanax withdrawals can be very brutal. If you do get addicted, which you realize is a possibility or you wouldn't have made this thread, then you'll be in a world of hurt later.

I used to be prescribed 1mg xanax for my anxiety by my primary physician. I never even abused it, but as soon as I stopped taking it I had terrible withdrawals. Tremors, irritability, headaches. I couldn't imagine how bad it would be if I had actually abused the medication. Well, I've taken more than the recommended dose prior to that, but that's once every great once in a while. I always, ALWAYS space out my drug use.

Benzos in general are very addictive. It's very easy to take more and more pills, start relying on them everyday, and then end up in bad shape.

Drugs like Alprazolam are incredibly powerful and need to be respected. You really have to make a conscious effort to control your usage, and stop flat out if you're finding you can't.

The last thing you want is a benzo dependency.

I must say that a supplier that has the 2mg bars is great. The trouble is this class of drugs, the sedative/hypnotics have a long 1/2 life in your system, i.e. the drug stays in your system for a long time even if you don't feel it. The worse addictions are these sedative/hypnotics. A person may go to a 30 day rehab & not begin to withdraw until day 22. Then you need a lot of help but you're discharged only 8 days later. In addition, a person may be following doctor's orders on this and still have physical withdraw as one reply said. Your "very natural tolerance" for this is also a tip off that you shouldn't use this. You could quite "naturally" be up to 8 or 10 bars in just a month or two. Please BEWARE. Thanks for asking.

The short-acting benzos have harsher withdrawals, which is why a medical detox usually involves valium. It leaves your system more slowly, and more gently.

Personally, I was addicted to ativan before my first script ran out, quickly ended up with a xanax script too, and spent years dosing daily as Rx'd. Only recently (~3 months) have I discontinued daily use, and I still am still feeling better each day.
I'm sure I owe a lot to gabapentin, having been on it 13 months. It's mechanism of action (increasing GABA transport efficiency, i.e. upregulation of GABA transport) seems to be helping recover from years of daily (2mg xanax, 2mg ativan, buying valium and kpins on the side) benzo use, and its effects (downregulation of GABA receptors) combined with pretty bad alcoholism (400-750mL of 101 proof and ~6-12 beers daily for ~7yrs depending on strength (I drink good beer and bourbon;) )

^This is true. If you want to live in benzo hell, go on and do it. I did the same thing and eventually was taking 6-12mg alprazolam a day, plus hundreds of milligrams of diazepam because it was there, and almost immediately I began escalating my doses and became unable to go more than several hours without taking 1-2mgs. You cannot begin to imagine the profound anxiety that accompanies benzodiazepine abuse and (especially) quitting.

Like others have said it is the most addictive of the benzos and probably the worst to come off of. I would only use xanax for breakthrough anxiety (eg. panic attacks and extreme anxiety). For a day to day benzo I would stick with something like diazapam (valium) or clonazepam (klonopin).
If at all possible, do not go for a benzodiazapine if it can be helped. Try going with something like Buspirone. It has done wonders for my anxiety!
Hope you figure out a solution,
Cheers!

Any benzo is addictive and hell to come off of. Xanax is definitely not the worst. The withdrawals hit peak intensity much faster than the longer half-life ones but the longer half-life ones are also more prone to cause post acute withdrawal syndrome, particularly Klonopin and Valium.

Anyway, seriously its best not to mess with benzos. I say if you have to post a thread asking about addiction potential then you shouldn't be messing with them because it sounds like you already have an addictive personality.

Recently.

Using zanax to sleep. only .50-1mg. like 3 weeks straight. Then a couple days off. Then I thought I'd quit the opiates and while another story, I had to take larger amounts of xanax to sleep. like 1.5 mg for like a week straight.

Then the Dr gave me seroquell and that knocks me out. So I stopped xanax. The first night I was awake almost the entire night even with the seroquell, but I didn't want to mix them. I'm sure I was up all night because I didn't take any xanax.

the next night I slept like a baby on the seroquell and experienced no other problems.

This is me though, you may be quite different. At least I have an idea on where my max is. I'm sure I was on the verge of a problem. now 2 weeks off the xanax and happy.

Good luck and do not press your luck.

Benzos are seductive. They make you feel gooooood but not at a level where you can't function if you are taking therapeutic dosages. They don't necessarily make your life go to hell, until.....you run out. At which point you do a google and discover that they modify and down-regulate the primary inhibitory neurotransmitter in your brain(GABA system). What that means in simple terms is basically like your brain is drenched in gasoline, a little spark(seizure) starts a fire and there's a nice little chance of death.

Not that it takes any bad intention to get there either. A compassionate doctor will script them to you for any number of reasons, real reasons, backed up by science and good medical practice, but if you abuse that script or your drug connect goes away, you NEED to go to the hospital if you're physically addicted.

If you don't withdrawal from them correctly, it can cause brain damage. Benzo PAWS(post acute withdrawal syndrome) is no joke, and for some people, simply does't go away. It's a bit shit to use drugs for one problem and end up with 3 more that are worse. No joke.

Sorry to put it so raw, but that's the straight dope on benzos.

I went back and read what I just wrote and it reads like a Reagan-era after school drugs special, but it's really not. That's just truth.

I suppose I meant xanax would have the most serious seizure symptoms (most dangerous to come off of cold turkey). But I would agree that the longer half life benzos like klonopin take longer to come off of. I should have been more clear.

I've been doing benzos for 4 years and I think that they are more addictive than people generally think they are.
I takes much less than "a few weeks" to create tolerance and withdrawal issues.

When doing benzos with a short half life, I think you can sort off minimize psychological and physical addiction,
by taking only 2 or 3 not too high doses a month. Without redosing, in order to reduce the amount of time the drug is in your blood, thus allowing your brain and body maximum amount of time to balance itself.

Doing one benzo dose every week is kind off pushing the boundaries.
Maybe you have a naturally high tolerance to xanax because your brain doesnt respond well to it.

I dont feel xanax it just makes me kind of tired,
but ativan 1 mg still calms me a lot, and 2 mg gets me pleasantly high.

Taking them more often and in higher doses than necessary,
will result in tolerance and addiction issues.

Xanax is the devil

I've never experienced w/d but the binges are crazy. I couldn't even tell you how much I used to end up taking in a night. And this is with 0.5mg pills. I'd run them out so quickly. Lost a handful of personal items(e.g cellphone)

The one thing that was always on my mind is to never get addicted. So I'd only have 30 0.5mg at a time. When they would finish I'd take a month's break.

I guess what I'm trying to say here is that having that many 2mg Xanax bars at a time is going to lead to a WORLD of trouble.

IMO do not get so much. That's all I can say.

Valium is much better IMO. I usually just take 10mg before a night of drinking/smoking. I must say it's much more calm binge than the outrageous, blackout, zombie like Xanax binges I've had in the past.

Again I only have 30 at a time. But I ony now start leaving my stash home so I guess that could be a big reason why the binge is more controlled.
