I was wondering if I am unique in that If I drink, no matter if its a little or a lot.

If I go to bed after I start to sober up I feel really agitated and my mind is racing and I can be awake all night.
I suffer from very severe depression and anxiety that waxs and wanes but never really goes away.. I was wondering if there was any connection?
Med free or meds, no difference either
Thanks

eveyrbodies brain chemistry is different, and there are always paradoxal effects of drugs

when alcohol starts to wear off for me it triggers my anxiety, which could be exactly what your feeling, :P something doesn't need to be a stimulate to makeyour heart beat fast and feel anxious

Yeah, I'm the same way... which is why I hate drinking.. I had a drink the other night (with 2 tramadol..bad idea) thinking it would put me to sleep for a good 6 hours because i had to get up early... but instead of waking me up at 5.. i was wide awake at 1 am.. and thrashing all over my bed... i nearly fell outta bet twice! alcohol sucks.. sure its fun sometimes.. but you have to drink a lot for that.. and then you're left with a freakin hangover the next day... ill stick with what i'm prescribed instead..

hahaha.... i don't know that i've ever been THAT uncomfortable (well, now that I think about it, I've definitely done some goofie "exercises" in the search for sleep.....a faked full body muscle spasm comes to mind (and no, it didn't work)

ethanol first depresses the nervous system . when the toxicity washes out the CNS rebounds much higher than and sleep goes in the tank .

even though i certainly don't practice what i preach, i do believe the best way to get along is to be free of intoxicants and just live .

If I drink a lot I can't sleep (6+ beers, shots, wine etc). I always wake up after 2-3 hours and can never go back to sleep. Thats why I rarely drink anymore. Plus I think anything more than 1 drink ruins my opiates. Although the most anxiety free I've ever been is having an alp and 2-3 beers.
