So a lot of you know me though I’ve been MIA awhile. I’ve been working on myself. That said, I am in a slump. I have a hard time functioning. I have a hard time socializing finding drive to obtain new employment. Focusing and all that.

I took time away to work out my bipolar medication and get stabilized. I am now very stable and on lithium and abilify, buspar, prazosin, and suboxone.

I am wondering if any of you have or know someone who has had a stimulant problem in the past and was able to access enough self discipline to take adhd meds as prescribed again.

Will you please describe how it worked out for you?

Hi mate, really good to hear that you're doing better

I'm sure you want to keep it that way so am just gonna say that it doesn't matter at all if some people can return to using stimulants as prescribed after having a problem with them

Some can for sure. A lot of people cannot. You are in the second category as you well know. FORGET IT man. This is just addiction trying to lure you back, you know it too.

You (and many others) cannot use stimulants in any way responsibly - it's impossible for you. Just accept it and don't blow your life again friend

Seconded, bro. This is your addiction trying to weasel it's way back into your life, so it can ruin all that progress you just made. Again. You know that's how it'll turn out, I know that's how it'll turn out. I'm in the same boat. There is no middle ground of safe, sane, responsible stimulant use for people like you and I. I still crave regularly, but it's not in the cards. Hold strong.

I have had my issues but when I go back to my prescribed adhd meds my life always improves.

systems/protocols for dealing with addiction often revolve around abstinence and an attitude towards the drug use, as well as various tricks to self-motivate the individual, because most people just work that way.
It doesnt mean its the correct answer, saying you have to stay pure or lack any will power might work, but its just a one size fits all mentality, also, saying that other people can make it through by sheer willpower is a bit blunt for what it really is, which is just being comfortable with the struggle, or being confident in where your limits are, or, accepting that you have to stay in the shallow water.

Not abusing drugs is very abstract, but i think it boils down to drawing a line in the sand and just making sure you dont cross it, and let your cravings run wild if thats the consequence for having that medication in your life.
For some people, its true though that the line they must draw is, not even thinking about it, or being tempted. Abstinence is their only recourse then.
I would argue that such people would actually be able to continue using under some circumstances, but they themselves are not able to administer it, since the need corresponds with a state of disinhibition.

The one person i know in that situation, ex speed-freak.
Could not take ADHD meds as prescribed. He would take em all.
In a short time span. Only distributed per dose by others, XL versions.

Kinda worked, but what he did beside that who knows.
So it will involve a change of mindset and willpower.

As non speed-freak. I got three unopened envelopes/ months of meds.
As i take less then prescribed, so basically 3 grams of d-Amphetamine.
and no intention to take it. If you can manage that i d say go.

Otherwise have em given by a trusty at the right moments !
Or get a so called time lock vault. I must admit without it,
i don t function, just the dose prescribed is imo to high.
Used to be good but after several breaks and a breakup [divorce]
Its overkill. So i have surplus next time they cease delivering it.

Which is the negative side, being depended on medical professionals,
and their prescriptions. Good to read your working on yourself.
that is self controlled the meds help with it.

Medical professional s here unreliable, and that s wording it nicely.
Might not be everywhere.

Just like jack and partyfiend, I also don't believe you can use stimulants responsibly, at least something like amphetamines. You have been through this pattern several times. Don't go through it again.

<3
So you also feel its like some just can t handle em as its their DOC.

Its not mine, which would explain my surplus.
would the person i mentioned still be a good friend.
He d use any manipulative skill to get em from me,
if he knew i got em ! learned that along the way.

Somethings are better left unsaid.
