I'm sorry if such thread already exists but didn't find it specifically from a (very) quick search.

The stories there seem to be very alarming and yet it's a topic that isn't very discussed publically. When I think about history of fappin, from thousands years ago to the first half of 2th century, masturbation both in men and women was generally viewed as a very bad thing. Then from 1960s opinions in western countries generally changed towards positive... but fapping to an imagination of your classmate being naked in 1965 has NOTHING to do with watching 5 disgusting porn "movies" a day at xhamster.com. The thing is, women are not at risk because their biological role is completely different than mens and their brains react differently. Vast majority of women are not turned on by being impregnated by dozens of complete strangers every day, except very promiscuous ladies. Conversely, impregnating dozens of different women all the time is exactly what most men do want.

Nowadays apparently millions of young men are so addicted to porn that giving up fapping and have interest in real women can be harder than quitting heroin because 2 seconds of typing URL is all you need to satisfy your biological needs, it is completely free and is available 24hours a day, 7 days a week.

Is anyone saying masturbation in usual amounts is unhealthy? Of course not, but single men masturbating on very regular basis are at giant risk of becoming extremely addicted to porn apparently. 8(

With a title like that (yourbrainonporn.com) I was expecting some pictures showing people who have permanent brain damage from watching too much porn, then maybe a couple before and after pictures like those don't-do-meth ads. I was seriously disappointed.

Anyway, that site says that porn (and food) are more addictive than drugs, and I have to disagree. Free Internet porn has been available to me constantly since I was 9-10 years old, and I can afford all the Jack-In-The-Box I could ever want, but I've never had a problem with either of those. Maybe it's just me, but trying to jerk off more than once a day is more of a burden than a pleasure, and trying to shove fast food down my throat is just as fucking painful. Heroin and Oxycontin, on the other hand...
 
Well the heroin was really really bad exaggeration since there aren't much of physical WDs when giving up fapping (somebody on that site did compare it to heroin but I guess he didn't actually ever try this drug), but maybe it could be compared to a low to medium cocaine habit? Because apparently the addiction to porn has mostly to do with dopamine, like cocaine.

Fapping won't cause any permanent brain damage I'm sure, but there are people who jerk off more than 3 times a day and once you get there, trying to give up can cause quite strong mental WDs, fatigue, depression, demotivation to do anythinh, social anxiety, loss of libido, erectyle disfunction (which is a kind of physical WD actually) and more, all of which can last up to 2 months. And they say once you get there, you shouldn't ever watch porn anymore to avoid falling for it again. All sounds remarkably similar to stimulants addiction.
 
I do think that women are at much, much less risk than men, and there is this notorious connection with using stims when alone and fapping. Just look here at BL, every day you can read about some guy talking about his porn binge, yet I don't remember any girl posting that she just spent 10 hours with a dildo. Stims generally make horny both men and women, yes, but women don't seem to crave porn when high, only real sex which is not a bad thing.

I just think this is something that shouldn't be underestimated.. I don't have problem personally, I'm fine with once a day too but..

Which is another thing, I'd like to read some estimates on how many % of regular porn watchers are actually addicted, maybe it's not very high % but not neglectable number either.

Actually I myself experienced this when I was abusing mephedrone, fortunately it only lasted for about 4 months and when I quit drone I stopped crazy wanking sessions, but back then I could fap 7 times a day (personal record being 11 or 12 per day lol), that's 50 orgasms a week to aritifical impulses , that couldn't be healthy. I did lose interest in real women back during that period.
 
its not that people are addicted. its more that its a convenient time filler that stops you looking for more in your environment.

porn is killing the drive to seek fresh flesh as you are getting a shitty waterdown version on the net.

go out find flesh and get laid!

you dont have to be compulsive with something for it to detract from your life
 
Eh. I'm sure you can kind of get addicted to porn but if someone tells me they literally can't stop watching it I'm not going to take them very seriously. It's a matter of breaking a habit, not getting off a drug, IMO.
 
addiction isn't the problem. the feeling of having something new sexually stops you making the effort to hunt a bang like the old days when the only way i could get sex was to hunt for it

everything in modern society can be summed up in two ways.

1.create distance between people

2.make everything disposable
 
Its not like sex is something people should strive for anyways. I read an article in Psychology Today that addressed something similar, that a culture of porn is detrimental to people's Mental Health.

These are the same people who conclude that for every hour of work you should take a 5 minute break. 8)

I mean its just feminism at work. Declining birth rates, etc. The natural purpose of sex isn't pleasure but for procreation. We're just programmed to respond well to sex because its Nature, having babies is the continuation of the species.

The Western world is a naturally anxiety driven place. Culturally, how can we live in a world where we can buy a $2000 TV on credit with virtually same day shipping and work 60+ hour work weeks.

Excessive masturbation is just a coping strategy of an unreal society and its unreal demands. Whatever excessive means. We are excessive. Its what drives us forward.
 
masturbation hasn't always been viewed as negative throughout history.

i think it is good that it is now viewed positively, as it always happened and the guilt associated with repressing your own sexuality probably caused a lot of issues. in the OP, you say only "the whorest of whores" want multiple sexual partners a day, which is quite offensive IMO. how much sex or how many sexual partners any man or woman wants isn't for anyone else to judge. women have a similar level of desire as men, but because of our culture are forced to hide behind an innocent, virgin-like front. for example, many men would have no problem fucking a load of girls, but would be upset if their future wife had fucked a load of guys. that promiscuous behaviour is generally accepted for men, but frowned upon for women is disgusting IMO. fuck who you want, it's no one else's business.

some people say that porn "objectifies women". well, yes, it does, but what is wrong with that? it objectifies men even more, reduced to just a penis is most videos. i objectify the bus driver, the checkout person, etc, it doesn't mean i have less respect for them as a person. if someone has consented to a certain act, what is wrong with that?

some other people say porn creates unrealistic views of what real women or sex are like, which is crazy. only really stupid people would think or expect real life women or sex to be like porn, and those people probably have many other issues that would cause problems with their relationships to women.
 
^I agree completely with the above post and OP I'd also appreciate it if you'd explain to me why it's fine for men to want to sleep with dozens of women every day, but if women want that they're whores. I'd be very interested to hear an explanation.
I'm not at all one to spread feminist discourse around all the time but that sort of sexist bullshit does really piss me off because it's absolutely ridiculous how often I've heard it come up.
