I’m new to adderall. I have been prescribed 5mg XR but have only really taken IR before. How to I tune in my dose/when should I redose? I’ve been told there is a way to make it into IR so maybe going to try that for my afternoon dose. But I’m wondering if I take 5mg now when will I know if I need more for my first dose, like how long will it take to kick in I don’t understand the mechanism of XR. Also when I was younger, I was prescribed 15 mg extended release in the morning and 10 mg extended release in the afternoon so I feel like that may be the way to go. I just don’t like the extended release in the afternoon as it keeps me up at night. Also tips to avoid to come down as well.

just looking for overall stimulant information!

seems like you aren't so new to adderall after all?

if a doctor gave you a prescription, they will probably have told you when and how to take the adderall. is there are reason you need/want to derive from that recommendation?

or ist it

which is a valid request, though it takes the focus away from adderall.

no doubt and yea they said start with 5mg in the AM of XR but just looking for tips and optimal dosing as with doctors they usually start you on the lowest dose and slowly work up, i dont take it everyday so ill have extra

Really it'll just be a process of taking the dose as prescribed, taking the month to consider if it's benefiting or if you think you need an adjustment and communicating your thoughts. 5mg isn't a lot but with no tolerance it may be plenty theraputically or you may need to take a step up and repeat

If you want to avoid inching into bad habits where you risk abusing your medicine and not having more for a period at the end of the month I wouldn't normalize yourself to redosing XRs, especially since generally 5mg is a temporary starting dose and 15ish mg is where most settle

The key to getting the most out of amphetamine is finding the bare minimum dose that benefits you, staying there as long as possible by not taking extra some days for fun, and taking care to hydrate, meet your caloric and nutritional needs daily, and get a full night of sleep every night. Controlling nutrition, dosing and sleep in my experience can keep your tolerance from building up for months

your totally right thank you for that advice
