Adderall...a retrospective summary.

The following is my experience with the drug manufactured as Adderall, being perscribed for about 5-6 months, nearly 6 months ago. (I no longer use it for its perscribed/recreational effects, only in a blue moon).

The first time I tried Adderall was at work. A friend who hated the things that was perscribed to me sold me a couple for a buck a pop. I got 3 of the 20mg Instant Release tablets. Little did I know about the effects of this drug before using it. I popped two, and snorted about half of the other one. Going into work, not knowing exactly what to expect...
I'd say about 30 minutes later. BAM. Energy. Not caffeine nervous shaky crappy energy, no...no..a focused energy. A different, clear headed mindset. I worked like an animal that night (bussing tables...hey, I was fresh 17 years old). I don't remember there being any paranoia, being it a restaurant and everyone was on coke or benzos :P... I do remember begging the waitresses to give me something to do though.
So, that was then...I continued to just get Adderall on a not so frequent basis from this friend, after reading about people becoming addicted...soon, I would just stop caring.
I went to a doctor for my ADD (I couldn't focus in school, I have been diagnosed since 12 but never treated). I scored in the range that would lead the doctor to believe the patient in fact, had ADD..woot.
I was perscribed Adderall 30mg XR. Great, I thought. I can be ME. No anxieties, no real drag of the day...lifted my chronic depression. I was taking it daily and I had to say my life improved for the better. Academically, socially, and my self esteem was overall better. Oops... after about 1.5 months of taking it as recommended...(1)capsule in the morning, I started to take two of them, instead of one.
This was causing me to run out quicker (notice the addictive mindset already in play) so I had to tell my doctor something, just something to get my Adderall increased. I thought up a storm...I wont go into specifics, but I got it raised an extra 300mg (via the 10mg blue tabs) monthly. I was happy. Things were still going good. I was eating alright, sleeping ok...beginning to become a bit obsessive or so Iam told by my parents. My behavior was much more goal oriented and frankly, better. I was content, civil.
And how long did you think that was going to last? I ended up getting 90x10mg Dexedrine a month from my doctor. I told him the Adderall wasn't working so I could get on dexedrine. Things went good again, I noticed a difference that the d-amp didnt last as long as the salts, but thats what the increase in pills were for, right?
I ended up getting an obsessive state with my medication. It was nutty. I got switched back to adderall, 30x30mg XR, 30x20mg IR. From this, it all went to shit. I was staying up days on end, researching drugs, fantasizing, smoking weed (odear!). I became antisocial like expected, spending my time by the computer...talking to people in situations like mine. Occasionally, my friends and I would hang out and do some adderall, my treat of course...stayed up all night with a friend of mine...lets just say I wont forget it.
I decided to write a personal letter to myself when I felt myself becoming poisoned/almost toxic from this drug. I quit..I quit when I still could. I was lucky. Im typing this while im on 45mg of Adderall now, but I don't see that doctor anymore, and its too expensive through my connect, plus...the emotional roller coaster it puts you on is immense. speed makes everything a lie...remember that.

Just some words of insight into this drug...I feel as if I have some experience...take caution

Great Retrospect and report for that matter.

I too have been in that situation.. getting adderall everyday for school trying to score some from different students with scripts before I got depressed from w/d. However I eventually started feeling an undescribable "dirtyness" whenever I took it and especially when I came down it was although my body was decomposing while I was still alive. So without further ado, I quit. And actually a small/medium dose of opiates during the w/d weeks insuing helped me tremendously. After the psycho/physical withdrawals were over I realized how good it actually felt to get a good night sleep and eat a big meal.

Adderall is one dirty medication and I feel terrible for all the elementry/middle school students who are prescribed this med for AD/H/D, because eventually these fucking scientists/doctors/psychiatrists are gonna find out the devastating long-term effects of this not-so-harmless drug.

I, too, have been prescribed adderall as well as ritalin and was lucky enough to not end up having a bad experience (yet.) I am sure that there will be ill-effects for the children who use adderall daily, but we also have to remember that the doses many of these children are taking are much lower than what most people on this website take and that while the safety and efficacy of these drugs in lower doses haven't been shown in, like, longitudinal studies, they have been shown in fairly long term studies. Also, while ADD is grossly overdiagnosed, there are some kids who truly benefit and "need" stimulants.

ive been taking adderall for about 4 years now for adhd, somewhere around there... anyways this past year ive started to save them for a few days and then take them all at once(like 6-8 30mg pills). The first time... i couldnt focus on anything for some reason but i really tried... it was all just to blury and hurt my eyes to watch a movie. usually i am really focused and am to busy working to socialize or anything else. but the first time i took a large dose it seemed really weird but at the same time i liked the feeling of just sitting there not focused and not being able to see clearly.
has anyone else experienced this?

wow after reading this it sounds kind of like babbling, but ill post it anyways
