This was very strange. This morning I took a 15 mg IR adderall and went into a full blown panic attack when it started to kick in. I mean I thought for sure my heart was going to stop, especially because of adderalls effects on blood pressure and heart rate. So my roommate took me to the ER where I received a dose of klonopin and they gave me oxygen. That calmed me down, but also made me mad because I am a recovering benzo addict and I don't need benzo withdrawal symptoms resurfacing. The panic attack felt very similar to a weed-induced panic attack, when you think you are going to die and your heart is good to explode.
To get the background history out:
-Physically dependent on klonopin in the past (for about a year)..still had very small lingering issues.
-I smoke pot everyday...mainly at night before bed.
-I've taken large doses of adderall here and there..especially last spring, with no problems.
Does anybody have any idea what could be causing this? I'm smoking very, very, very dank weed every night now. Something tells me this is related to a dysfunction with dopamine/norepinephrine/adrenals. I've also been working out heavily over the past few months, something I did not do before. Exercising raises levels of neurotransmitters when done on a continuos basis. These are all just things that I think might be clues but I cannot put the pieces together. A person on a benzo forum told me that benzos make your brain adapt by stopping production of norepinephrine/serotonin, and that maybe as I have recovered over the past year and half my norepinephrine levels have returned to normal while my GABA levels have not...hence the reason the klonopin worked to calm me out what essentially was a panic/attack and adrenal storm:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adrenergic_storm
Any answers are greatly appreciated!
