Hi,

I'm new and thinking of taking Adderall for dieting. I've tried doc pills such as duromine and panbesy and they are no longer effective for me.

I can take up to 2 - 3 panbesy without suppressing much of my appetite.

I understand it is just a temp measure as in order to maintain the weight loss, I will need to change my eating habits.

Just hoping I could use Adderall to kick start on a diet regime...

Will Adderall be a better option ?

Honestly sounds like a bad idea. I took adderall to kill cravings while losing weight for wrestling and it wasn't fun it's not worth it. You said it first, the best way to lose weight is to change your eating habits and throw exercise on top of that.

Adderall is an effective appetite supressant but not an effective weight-loss tool. When its effects disappear, eating will go way above baseline.

I'm already a smoker. Hahaa Hmmmm unless u r thinking of smoking other stuffs.
From where I am, meth is really expensive.
The first time I lost like 4kg in a week, tot it's just water lost but the weight didn't come back maybe cos I was really into exercising.
Recently tried again..I'm hungry by the end of the day ;(

I know it's not a healthy path to go but I am really looking for a strong appetite suppressant to curb my cravings. Just to kick start...

Btw I did some research from previous thread, is it not advisable to be doing cardio while on Addarell? I hope Yoga is fine though...

Hi Junko, and welcome to BL! While many people DO indeed lose weight while on stimulants, I agree 100% with what others have said...it's just a bad idea.
You mentioned that you were considering using it just to get started with weight loss. If you were to start taking it, you would start eating like normal (if not more) as soon as you stopped the drug.
I don't know if you have a tendency to get addicted to things, but that's another concern.
Be safe!

No. Suppressing your diet in the first place isnt a good idea, it only slows down your metabolism which in return slows down your natural fat burning. Adderall does make you not want to eat at all, but at in the middle of the day, you feel like poo. Because you absolutely no nutrition in your body. Best diet advice, mile a day, eat right. Thats it

The thing with amphetamine is that while it does suppress your appetite whole you feel the main effects, once the effects wear off, your body feels starved and you overeat effectively gaining back all the calories you would have lost if you didn't eat

I think it could be productive if done right, the problem is that is causes you to not want to eat ANYTHING and you still need your daily nutrition which if not received turns into a variety of problems (dissy spells, anxiety and panic attcks, memory loss, ect. ect.

Though I think it could possibly be another alternative to weight loss, I do not advice, it. Its not made for weight loss, its made for children and adults with attention disorder, but when any medication is abused for other reasons there are always a chance for fatal results. Please be careful and good luck!

I've only heard of one person being prescribed Adderall for dieting and it didn't help her whatsoever.

I would strongly discourage the use of any kind of diet aid and just learn how to eat healthy/exercise.

I use camfetamine. Wrks like speed for suppressing appetite but the buzz is mild and wears off naturally, for me anyway. Lost tns of weight on it :) I only use it because amphetamines are like unicorns where I live.

I don't easily get addicted but my body builds up resistance pretty fast. I will be safe and I don't intend to starve myself..
I've got some protein shakes ready..most prob I will be on a liquid diet, dropped some weight and start to eat healthier.

Thanks amberskye09.. I will check out on camfetamine!

Thanks folks for the many advices and concern.

^^This.

If you are looking for a drug to lose weight you are on the wrong path.
Weight loss is (IMO) is 99½% - Diet, exercise, healthy lifestyle and the right mindset------------and less than ½% drugs.

Wouldn't the appetite suppression diminish in a few weeks anyway? I know that it does with the ephedrine&caffeine combo.

Few WEEKS? Whenever I take stims, no matter how crazy doses, I start to overeat the very first day after sleep. When I use stims 3-4 times per week I actually gain weight, in the worst possible way, starving for 24+ hours and then eat 10 meals the days between. I'd have to take them every single fucking day which would lead to terrible malnutrition.

But everybody is different, some people's apettite returns simply to normal when they stop taking them.

For the record, suppressing your appetite with stimulants doesn't slow your metabolism at all; it actually raises it a little because of its effects on your adrenergic receptors - there's more norepinephrine (noradrenaline) and epinephrine (adrenaline) effecting your system. While I do somewhat agree with the responses above, stimulants can, if used correctly, be a great tool to start dieting.

While others are saying that it is a bad idea, if done CORRECTLY, it could help to change your dieting habits. The key is that throughout the day, you have to keep reminding yourself to eat a LITTLE bit, and force yourself to do so. Optimally, to keep your metabolism up, you want to spread your eating out into about 9 sessions per day. Don't eat big meals (I would eat perhaps 3 very minimal meals (3-500 calories a piece, with your largest in the morning) and have 4-6 very light snacks (like 100 calories a piece)), and don't try to go on a binge for a few days not eating then go off, because while you probably won't make up the calories missed, you will probably gain most of your weight back from your body going into starvation mode.

I also used to use phentermine (was taking 75mg/day). I don't know if you're in Australia or where, but if you were on an extended release version of phentermine (and I don't know what dosages they Rx it in), but I was prescribed 2-37.5 mg tablets a day, but I would take them both in the morning, and it worked pretty well for the 4 months I was on it. I will say though, that when I went off of it, I gained back half the weight I had lost, but I can't stay active due to medical problems. That could have been a major factor.

Oddly though (and I don't advise you to do this at all lol), when I was on meth for a year (and there was some roller coaster effect on my weight) and was basically starving myself 4-5 days out of the week (involuntarily because with the amounts of meth I was doing, it burned my mouth and hurt my throat to eat), I went from 220 lbs. to 155 lbs. by the end. When I quit, I gained about 20 lbs back, but that was good because I didn't look like a scrawny stick, and I didn't gain back all my weight. It was a nice middle point. I stayed at that weight for half a year until I got injured, then got all the way back up to my high school freshman year weight of 260 and stayed there until I tried the phentermine.

I recently got my ADHD diagnosed and got prescribed Vyvanse. I plan on using it to optimize my eating habits (because I'm not exactly practicing what I preach in terms of how you should space out your meals at this point in time) when I get on the right dose, so that I might be able to get to a healthier weight.

Adderall though once marketed as Obetrol here in the states is too psychoactive to be useful as an anorectic only. You may wish to look into something less stimulating to the frontal lobes like phentermine, only if you are severely obese otw I would stick to diet and exercise for a more long term result
