I've been informed by more than one trusted source that in order for me to get a prescription for adderall from a doctor I need to go through ADD testing since i'm over age 21?? I live in Ohio. Could this be a state wide rule or is this a national requirement? I don't attend school or work...I'm thinking this might be a difficult script to obtain. I'm just wondering if anyone is knowledgeable about the rules and regulations of adderall and what doctors are allowed to prescribe.
This was my recent personal experience:
The first doctor I went to told me to have lab work done and bring back some signed sheet proving I was in school and he'd write me a script.
Next I went to my regular doc who told me he'd rather me stick with my psychiatrist, although he does have the power to prescribe.
So I asked my psychiatrist who told me that I have to go through some kind of ADD testing first to make sure I meet requirements...
Since the first two doctors didn't even mention ADD testing i'm wondering if the last doctor was just following some kind of protocol enforced by the agency they are employed by.... Maybe since I live next to a major university....
I'm just wondering what the actual LEGIT rules are. if anyone answers this, if you have some sort of source to back up your info with that would be so cool. links and even other random forums like this are fine.
cuz i'm at the point where i just want to go doctor shopping OUTSIDE of a professional environment...but i don't want to waste my time if the law requires me to go through testing regardless!
and i'm trying to do this all legal!! i don't want to loose my insurance. i just want adderall and maybe klonopin or valium without having to jump through 50 hoops!!
