Misc Accutane?

Anyone taken this? I know you're supposed to do blood tests etc etc.. but I'm thinking of flying in the face of HR here and just taking it on my own and monitoring myself as I go.

Ive tried various antibiotics and so on but nothing has ever worked. I went on prozak for a few months about a year and a half ago and my back/chest broke out huge after that and it has seemed to be a lasting thing. my back/chest are covered in scars, some have faded to that fish scaly type white, others are full on purple hard lumps that havent changed in months.. Id always had acne, worst in my teens and i would have flare ups here and there, but the cystic shit got insane.

At my age now, its really, really fucking annoying. I'm looked at like a teenager while Im well into adulthood 8(

Im somewhat worried about the drying side effects, but everything else really bad about it seems to be something super rare, and I don't really drink or take any substances that are hard on the liver at all so I can't see myself really having any issues that way, but I know how to look for symptoms of liver problems..

There's evidence to suggest roaccutane causes depression, but it's hard to tell if it's the drug or the acne that actually causes it. GPs and dermatologists are reluctant to prescribe it though. If you want it prescribed, you really have to press home the fact you're at your wit's end.

Well, thats just it.. I'm not sure how doctors are up here about that knid of stuff, but from everything Ive read Im pretty much a prime candidate, at the moment I even have one under my arm pit. You know how annoying/frustrating/painful that shit is? lol.

I've tried the oral antibiotics, the _cyclines, the facial 'remedies' creams pastes, cleansers, etc. The cyclines seem to help a bit while I am on them after like a month and a half, but its never gone and instantly flares back up worse when I stop. And logistically, just the time it takes for some of these methods, I just don't have the time for, nobody got time for that. Spending 45 mins in the bathroom each morning and night, christ. Sometimes its hard to find an hour to relax

So I've heard as well.

Honestly, i never had the shit on my back and chest really. The odd cystic one here or there, but other than that clean as a whistle.. then I went on prozac and everything changed. Its not even listed as a side effect of it but I know it was nearly entirely directly related to the 'zac

Absolutely do not take Accutane without a doctor's supervision!

It's a great way to destroy your intenstines and liver permanently.

Only take accutane if it is a last Hail Mary treatment option for skin cancer, or brain cancer.

If you have acne, don't take cancer medications. Just a bad idea in general.

Sekio is absolutely right. You need to be monitored! But I don't understand Captains post regarding cancer. As far as I know Isotretinoin is no cancer med...or was that an intentional exaggeration?

I was on this stuff for about two years for severe acne papulo-pustulosa in my twenties. Never had acne as a teen but it hit me hard back then.
In retrospect I am glad to have done it because I was so depressed but it has nasty side effects (headaches, fatigue, extreme photophobia dust-dry skin and lips and lots of other unpleasant stuff) and takes a long time to take effect.

At first your acne will get worse for a few weeks (I looked like a bloated up mutant) before getting better very slowly. At the end I finally tapered down over a long timeframe.
I think it is the last resort if anything else fails. This was about 8 years ago and even today I am still very sensitive to the sun additional to my anyway A+white skintype.

But in the end it helped me. If I get pimples today they are so small, don't grow at all and vanish after a few days.
