Misc Accidentally Iv'ed some Isopropyl Alcohol. Please help.....

I was shooting some hydromorphone and accidentally mixed isopropyl alcohol instead of purified water. I didn't realize it until after I injected it. My skin around the injection site got all strange and puffy and it started burning not really bad. I took around 80cc's. I feel fine. Should I be worried?

You mean 80 units? A CC is a Cubic Centimeter, ie 1ml.

If so, you should be fine.

A pro tip - Add some food colouring to your isopropyl alcohol to avoid this in the future.

I've done it in the past but always caught it before I injected it. I like the food coloring idea. I'll have to do that. And yes it was units. My syringes are 1ml max. It still scared me!

Glad to hear it was only 80 units. Be careful man, you only have one body. The problem is that with regular IV use, the whole practice of IVing becomes trivial, a part of one's every day life, and thus we start to pay less attention to it when we're doing it and that's when mistakes can happen. Being attentive and alert when preparing a shot is extremely important.

Indeed, I put blue food coloring in IPA, because most bottles have a blue label (confusing because Kerosene is also sold like this)

Just wondering. Why was alcohol so close anyway? Sterlize?
