Why would I be allergic on my first trial, i.e. no sensitization, no previous exposure, hence no B-cells expressing an A-PVP targeting IgE antibody, no allergy, in the proper[and familiar, i.e. bee, peanut, pollen] meaning of the word.
Not to mention, while by no means unheard of, allergic reactions to non-proteins/protein fragments are relatively rare compared, even more rare when that chemical is not derived from, or vaguely related to anything biological.
Finally, it would of seemed likely that since the substance here is put directly into the nasal passages, an allergy would produce prominent sinus involvement, like itchiness, copious mucus, tearing of the eyes.
I'd say an allergy as the explanation seems less probable then something else.
