A poem not E related

Guyz, please tell me what you think. Need major input! I'm a sucky writer...but I try my hardest!
I remember the night I first met you
With a smile on your face you anxiously gazed at the TV awaiting the end of your favorite movie
I remember the first time I listened to you
carrying on one of the most fantastically intelligent conversations I've ever heard
You spoke with such and incredible ease
I remember the first night we hung out
You danced around as if you were an innocent little child playing with strangers as if you've known them forever
I remember the first time I fell in love
You spoke to me as if I was your best friend
telling me your deepest feelings and teaching me things I thought were never possible to learn.
I love everything about you...but most of all, I love the way you make me remember things!

Chick! First off, let me say that you are indeed NOT giving yourself the credit you deserve. That was an excellent poem! I feel that writing (in this manner) is for the sole spurpose of expression. You shouldn't write a poem to impress others, you should write a poem to express your thoughts. Once your emotions become "commercialized" (sorry, bad 'terminoligy' there) then it loses some of its genuineness. I think the purpose of posting poems, stories, etc. on here is to share with others how you feel, not to impress them.
But like I said before, this poem is excellent. If you don't mind, I would like to read it to my girlfriend (giving credit to you of course). I myself sometimes have trouble expressing my thoughts, and I envy those that can do it as well as you have.
Keep writing! I'll keep reading.

Cytochrome...I think it's awesome how you might read my poem to your girlfrined. That is so flattering. I understand what you mean about writing doesn't have to be good, as long as you can show emotion and express feeling! I'm just real insecure about my writing.

i guess i would just agree, that poems...are not good, when you try too hard to write them. and anything that you write, that expresses your thoughts is amazing. when you try to impress people, they don't get impressed. i'm impressed when some has the honesty to write what they feel, and not care what others think. poetry for me is a catharsis....i started writing 12/31/99 and i've written about 60 poems since. i was looking through them, and realized my best ones were the ones i just worte--- like a journal, free flowing thoughts..rather than the ones i knew were going to be read by someone else. but you did really well, and keep it up...so many people let their gifts stay wrapped...when they are given to us..so we can open them up and play with them!
