Hey Bluelighters, okay so basically Swim injected heroin into the crook of his right arm. He registered and injected half the shot, then re-registered and finished it... so he is sure he didn't miss any of it. But right when he pulled out the rig he had a blood bubble type of mark. It is dark red/purple colored and this hasn't ever happened to Swim, so he is slightly concerned.

Also, he did another shot in the top of his left hand, and he missed about 5 or 10 units of the injection (which was a total of 80 units) and got the "heroin bubble," as many call it. Except this one is EXTREMELY painful... more so than any missed shot Swim has ever had before. So as you might be able to imagine, Swim is quite concerned about what could happen due to these complications.

Any advice from an experienced individual would be greatly appreciated, and of course, the sooner the better.

Thank you to anyone who is willing to give their input and/or advice! :)

Please can someone shed some light? I'm panicing and have high levels of anxiety right now...
I'm fucking TERRIFIED of forming an abcess. How long does it take for an abcess to form? Can you get one right after the injection? Please I don't mean to sound annoying, but I'm freaking out and I'm begging for someone to help me and give advice. Thanks guys.

just a heads up... your going to be asked to edit your post without the use of "swim"

you should probably seek medical attention if you are experiencing pain and discomfort.

Oh okay, I apologize. I'm new to this forum so I wasn't sure. Do I say "I" instead of "Swim?"

But that's the thing... I have no possible way to get to the hospital.

I was hoping someone here has/had a similar experience and would be able to tell me what to expect. And also how long it takes to form an abcess, if that's what it might be. Can it appear instantly after an injection?

maybe one of the other more experinced users could answer that.. I would just think it would be best to seek medical attention if it really looks like bad news.

Yeah that's what I'm praying for. I'm hoping that maybe someone like Captain Heroin can give me his opinion... or even ANYONE who is knowledgable in this type of things.

Captain is definitely the one Id seek advice from.. that mans words on here have been my bible over the years..

whatever the case I hope everything turns out ok for you bro.. wish you all the best... and honestly.. if it gets real bad.. please seek medical attention.

Missing in your hand is bad shit for sure, as for your arm did the bubble hurt and what was the size? When I shot of morphine I get et all in but usually I get a lil "bubble" smaller than a bb from the histimine reaction to the morphine. I think its caused from a. Minute amount on the needle tip, or leaking out of the vein. The captain here on bl said to wait a second after the plungers down to pull the rig, so as to prevent cvein leakage. Scence doing so I barley get that.

If the miss in your hand looks bad you need to get it checked out. To be honost you should wait to shoot till you can get to the bonesaws in case you hit an artery or something else bad goes down.

Thank you A4Anxiety, I truly appreciate your good wishes.

Toastedpanda - well, my hand is all better now. Its no longer painful, but it is just mooshy in a small part on top of my hand.

But as for the crook in my right arm, I have a bubble that's about the size of the top of a Q-tip, or slightly larger than a BB.
It is crimson red, and sort of scary looking to be honest :\

Does or did it hurt at the time of injection, did it bubble after you pulled the needle? Regardless something that small proly won't turn to an absese. When I first started I missed several times, once like 40-50 units it looked bad but shrunk real quick and I've never had an absese form out of any miss ever. I'm in good health though and if I missed I treated it immediatly to prevent infection. Nowadays I don't miss and only shoot 20 times or so a year, that means I've always got the good spots that you can't miss at unless you try.

Nope, it didn't hurt at the time of injection; and yes it formed the redish bubble right as I pulled the needle out.

I did the only sort of treatment I could think of, and that was to run really hot water on it... I held my arm under the hot water for about 10-15 minutes and that made the little bit of swelling there was go away.

Now its still a good sized red bubble but it looks like its under the skin maybe? Also I thought I'd let you know that I have really good veins despite injecting anywhere from once to six times a day. The main vein on the crook of my arm pops out and I never need to use a tourniquet. The redish/purple bubble is the width of the whole vein to give you an idea of the size.

By the way, thank you so much for talking with me. I really appreciate the time, effort, and help you're giving me. You're assisting me feel a little more at peace. :)

Oh Panda, if you're still around I forgot to ask you something... how long do abscesses take to form? Or the same question to anyone who reads this and has the answer.

Hey no problem man glad I could help. Usually on my best days I'm a smart ass so this is a shining moment for me lol. It sounds like it may be a small miss if it hasn't dissapated by now. Sometimes a lump from a miss can hang for several days or longer depending on the amount missed. In your case sounds like a lil bit leaked from the vein or syringe when you pulled it.

An abscess I believe will start to form around a day or so I believe and the spot will usually grow or become painfull. I don't have any firsthand expierince with an abscess myself for the record. I would keep an eye on it and if it starts to aliveate over the next 24/48 hours you should be fine. If it gets worse it would be a good idea to see a doc, you'll proly get some antibiotics and be sent on your way. You could tell the doc a cat scratched ya or ya got poked by a nail.

The purple makes it sound like a little brusing to me you my have got yourself pulling the pin out and the skin is a lil irritated. I'm sure you'll be fine regardless if it abscess or not. Just keep an eye on it keep it clean, rub some antibiotic cream (nepsporin) if you got some. Running under hot water proly helped you out already.

Don't worry to much you'll be okay I'm bout to go to sleep but I'll check this thread later see if you update. Take it easy friend.

Thanks a lot Panda you're a truly good person. I can't thank you enough for coming on this thread to help me out. I've never had any sort of abscess or infection from injecting of any kind, so I'm a bit clueless when it comes to these things haha.

So IF it becomes an abscess, I can say I got scratched by a cat or poked by a nail? Haha that sounds a little odd to me.

But once again thanks and I really appreciate the advice/help you offered me. I have recently fallen in love with Bluelight, because its filled with SOOOO much helpful and interesting information... also filled with helpful and great people.

Take care buddy and have a good one! Hope to check in with you soon man. Good night.

Ive never heard the term "heroin bubble" before but when i first started hitting up i made all sorts of messes of my self

when u say u missed in your hand are you talking about your hand swelling up like a balloon ?

If so i done that once and i went to hospital, they just said it was nothing to worry about and would go down in its own time

It sounds like a histamine reaction. If you are missing a shot, you'll see the subcutaneous lump start to form before you pull the needle out.

I would use a heat compress on the area (use a towel and lukewarm water - not scalding hot though - and press down on the area lightly not too heavily - as the flesh will heal quicker in a warm, moist environment), and watch it carefully over the next day or two.

Abscesses generally form over the course of days or longer. I would expect it to start recovering within the first day or two, if it only gets worse, and/or more painful - I would go seek medical attention. If it gets better, less painful, less swollen, over the course of several hours to a whole day, I think it's recovering.
