Hello Bluelight.
My friend (yes, really) took a rather large dose of 4-FA two days ago (225mg - don't do this!) and reacted pretty badly. Thankfully he's fine now but I'd be keen to hear theories on what exactly was happening at the time. I was close to taking him to hospital but he recovered pretty quickly and is currently sleeping.
I don't know much of what he felt during the night and he remarked he was feeling good when I asked most of the night. He had a LOT of gurning and I told him to be careful because I heard some quite nasty chops of his teeth. He couldn't sleep that night and nor could I so we just chilled out to some TV. I told him that he'd probably experience some degree of hallucinations in the morning as I always do if I miss sleep on a stim (stim psychosis?). He said he was seeing shadows etc. and I told him not to worry.
As the morning progressed his memory increasingly faltered and he could barely remember what I had said a few minutes ago. He said that he kept drifting in and out of sleep and I saw he kept closing his eyes then jolting awake. Obviously I was immediately worried and I got my blood pressure machine and took his BP. The first test failed JUST as he did the jolt awake thing which freaked me out. The next BP I took was 160/106 - 129. I was well aware this was too high and I got ready to call an ambulance however I told him to stand up slowly and I got him some water and some salty crisps because he hadn't eaten in a little while.
He was not too bad once he got up and ate and I took his BP again, 119/70 - 62. It seemed he was on the mend and I stayed with him for about 4 hours to make sure he was alright. I suggested he go and get a EKG or something when he gets back but he is really not keen on the doctors etc.
Anyway, anybody have any idea what happened? Obviously he took too much 4-FA but I'd expect symptoms of that to occur when peak effects were happening. When these problems began it was 12 hours after his last dose!
It's worth noting when his BP test failed the heart rate pulse was very erratic. Lots of palpitations were recognizable even by my hand on his wrist. Scary stuff. Thanks for any advice.
