I looked in a health food shop today and they have it for £8.99 for 100mg i think it was. That was mixed with something that began with the letter V and he said you take it before sleeping to help you sleep???

I thought you wernt suppose to take before sleeping. There was some pure stuff but it was £9.10 for a much smaller tub

Or shall i save my money for 5 beans instead :)

5-HTP are amino acids sold as nutritional supplements and are used by the body as precursors for the neurotransmitter serotonin (5-hydroxy-tryptamine). Both 5-HTP and L-Tryptophan have been used by body builders as an amino-acid. Trytophan is used to help stabilize mood, as a sleep aid, and by some ecstasy and psychedelic users because they are reputed to both increase the effects of substances as well as easing the comedown and helping stabilize mood the day after
how about taking both
 
I think the something starting with V will be Valerian Root. Definitely good for helping you sleep. Up to you which one you take - if you have trouble sleeping I'd definitely go for the Valerian Root. I don't see any reason not to take 5-HTP before you go to bed - what I'd do is come home from the rave (or whatever) and swallow a couple of 5-HTP before I went to sleep.

must have been the 30 x 100mg Vegicaps or like those then. it was 100mg caps though i think.

edit -where are these 10g bags you speak of?
 
Wow im lookin on ebay here, this stuff is actually much cheaper than I expected... Is there a recommended brand or recommended dosage 100 mg 50 mg?
 
Personally, I like a dosage of 100mg/day if I'm taking 5-HTP. I'd usually take it for a few days after rolling. Sometimes I've been in the habit of taking it daily, whether I'm rolling or not. If doing that, the consensus seems to be that you should stop for a few days before rolling.

Your mileage may vary, though - you might find that 100mg is too much, or too little. Maybe start off with 50mg and see how you go (so it would make sense to get the 50mg capsules).

Amen to that. I had a few nights where I was downright freaked out! Once I put 2 and 2 together I managed to get it under control. Now I can use 5-htp as a great trigger for lucid dreaming.
 
experienced the still awake but dreaming effect nodding in and out of conscious having 3-4 intense dreams in one night where usually i wont dream anything at all

I took it las night at around 4 i believe in 20 minutes i was in a deep sleep and woke up at 2:30 well-rested.
 
look around on the net guys, I cant post the web sites but you can get 5-HTP much cheeper than all the prices I've seen on this post. Shop around and you will find it.

I got 250 caps with 50mg in them for like £20/25 inc p&p
 
whats the date on them. mine run out in october 2008.

Had one last night and i had a nice 10hour sleep, no dream or anything from what i remember. deep sleep good!
 
5-HTP can also be used as a sleep aid, because some of it is metabolized to melatonin.
