5htp - New Legality Issues?

I've just been informed that a particular company is unable to export 5-htp to Australia anymore due to some new import restrictions! This is all the info I currently have, but does anyone else have anything to shed on this sad issue. And what does this mean for importing such items as 1,4 BD etc?
 
Email the experimental drugs section, this is the response I got for 5HTP imports (i posted this before i think but ne way)

5-hydroxytryptophan is not a controlled substance or a prohibited import.
Therefore, you may personally import this substance for your own personal use.
You may import up to a 3-month supply every 3 months. No import permit or
prescription is required.

yeah it was only iHerb
these laws obviously only came recently, I read yoru other post a while back, it was definetely before Feb 2001.
iHerb was the company I was talking about..
 
hrmmm perhaps another email to that guy wouldnt go astray..
i actually realized after i posted that i got the email in early janurary... i just figured they might have actually notified me of the fact that new laws were coming in.. oh well guess not

i've spoken at length with dean wilkinson at the TGA regarding the importation of 5htp, and was told the exact same thing. He said to me that the amount you could import was worked out on how regularly you took it.

Haven't ordered any recently but this is the response I got when I asked the question.

We were having alot of problems with lost shipments and high import and custom fees. Our customers were very unhappy. We had to make a company decision regarding the International Countries we were shipping to. So for now we have cut the number of International Countries and change the method of shipping to Airborne Express Flat $20.00 delivery. Hopping that at this time it was correct decision. I'm sorry if this has caused you a hardship.

I wrote to Iherb.com inquiring into this matter, as I'd like to get some 5-htp myself. They responded with this short note.

I've heard that theres some NZ distributors that will still ship to Australia, is this true? Is it now impossible to get 5-htp in Australia, or are there other sources other than Iherb.com? Any help would be appreciated, my seretonin needs a boost

i ordered some from www.healthy.co.nz just under a month ago. no problems with getting it and it took less than a week to arrive.

Thanks for that, looks like the goods, however shipping costs could be a problem, quite right. let me know when you get a response, I'm almost out of this wonder-vitamin

just recveived a couple of bottles from NZ. www.healthy.co.nz
took around a week.
no problems with the order cept for my parents asking "why u buying health products from NZ?"....whoops
Should be alot cheaper than buying from other countries cos NZ is one of the only places to have a currency where the aussie dollar if more valuable. So ended up farily cheap.
However was unsure if really got value for money.
Basically paid $49 (incl, p & a, and currency conversion fee charged by the bank) for 2 bottles, each with 30 50mg caps, can anyone tell me if its good value pruchasing from NZ, or should i purchase elsewhere?
