Tryptamines 5-Me-Mipt

Soo... I was gifted a small amount (375mg) of this material and no one (including the person that made it) can tell me anything about it.

A friend of a friend was trying to synthesize 5-meo-Mipt and after all was said and done, analytical could not detect any of the 5-meo-mipt. after a few calls with the china supplier, it was found there was a mistake and a different precursor was sent that leads to the 5-me-mipt instead of the 5-meo-mipt.

I doubt anyone here at bluelight can give me insight but figured I'd ask, even if it's just speculation, as long as it's based on reason, I'd be curious to hear thoughts.

I will eventually bioassay ala shulgin (very tiny amount, going higher) to see if there's any activity whatsoever. It could be totally bunk, but my experience with 5-meo-mipt does make me a little bit wary. 5-meo-mipt while never overwhelming IME, is quite potent, and it last's a little while and I have a million projects going as well.

Maybe not anytime soon, but eventually. If i knew* i didn't have ANY work to do tomorrow, I'd try a little. It's a waxy off white/pale yellow rock. I assume it's the FB but no idea tbh.
 
I gave it a try last night. 5-10mg sandwiched between some herb. Very nice material. Not overly strong at that dose but I was definitely high. I would describe it as being somewhere in the middle of 5-meo-dmt and 5-meo-Mipt in terms of effect, intensity, and duration. Duration was somewhere between 1 and 2 hours, so much longer than 5-meo-dmt and much shorter than 5-meo-mipt. It's comedown was very steep and quick. i really liked it, and would def repeat.

It's certainly not a dud.

How can I be sure of the identity? I really can't. I can't afford an NMR analysis and being such a novel compound I highly doubt it will show up on the GC. And I only got about 350mg. I have to trust the words of the person who gave it to me, and I have zero reason not to trust.

This makes me really curious (and I'm sure I'm not the only one thinking) about 5-Me-DMT. There seems to be very little info on it, and it's a bit hard to google because of namespace collisions with 5-MeO-DMT etc, but there's this:

i've made contact with the 5-methyl.. seems to be active.. i hope we start seeing 5-Me's
 
The -Me- naming is definitely going to confuse people (vs -MeO-). It's probably too late to go about trying to rename this baby, but it would have been less confusing if it was called 5-D-xxx, as in Shulgin's quirky naming for 2C-D

Although 5-D-DMT doesn't exactly roll off the tongue 🤔

As someone with a little background in chemistry, I object. The tryptamine nomenclature is objectively much better than whatever hellscape Shulgin came up with the PEA naming. Please don't make it confusing. The street nomenclature (five, moxy, foxy, dimitri, etc.) can be fair playground for the non-chemists.

And I don't see 5-Me-MiPT ever coming to the streets, unless those Chinese businessmen sold a whole lot of wrong stock.
