of xanax. I heard it was 1 mg. And klonopin is a better drug if you use iteveryday for breakthru anxiety. I was just wondering because I have been rationing my klonopin and taking .5

Clonazepam is the same strength as Alprazolam according to the charts. 0.5mg's of Clonazepam = 0.5mg's of Alprazolam. However nothing is absolute as everyone reacts differently to different benzos. Xanax acts much faster then clonazepam does and has a much shorter half life. Clonazepam has a long half life but takes about 2 hours to reach peak effects. When i take clonazepam Sublingualy i find that it takes about half a hour to kick in where as with Xanax it starts to work much faster. This is why clonazepam is much better for everyday use in treating anxiety while Alprazolam is better for acute treatment of panic attacks. This is also why Xanax tends to be more addictive then clonazepam as well.

Klonipin is very good for anxiety .5 usually does the trick. It doesn't make you feel buzzed but it will take the anxiety away. Put it under your tongue it has a slightly minty taste not gross at all. Try to take it only when needed.

^This. Couldn't have said it better myself. The benzo conversion charts aren't exactly the same for everybody, either.

Yeah, the chemical equivalency is different than what it actually feels like. It may have the same efficacy in the brain dose for dose, but in my experience, .5mg clonazepam usually feels like .25 alprazolam but Im sure other people might find it different.

IMO .5 Clonazepam usually feels just like 5mg of Diazepam or maybe closer to 7.5mg of Diazepam. I don't find Clonazepam all that useful in treating Anxiety everyday, I would have to think that Diazepam or even some intermediate benzo's like Lorazepam, and Bromazepam are better for treating Anxiety everyday than Alprazolam is. Although, if you are using benzo's everyday, you want to go with a long half life one, so clonazepam might be a good choice for some of you, and for others like me, its not that great I find.

Don't get me wrong though, I love Alprazolam. I just wish it lasted longer, and had a longer half life.

there are a lot of charts...on this site included. keep in mind everything everyone here has said. what you should gather from this is
1) everyones body/mind is different
2) equipotency is not the same as equal high/feeling

For ME...1mg of Klonopin gives me the same therapeutic benefit as 2mgs of Xanax, 15-20mg of Valium, 45mg Clorazepate, 2-4mg Ativan, 60mg-90mg Serax. It can be COMPLETELY different for other people, clearly. And it also depends on what generic brand you're using. Benzodiazepines are one of the most variable medications when it comes to generics. I find that TEVA, Greenstone, Barr (now owned by TEVA), and Purepac are the best. Qualitest is terrible for benzos. TEVA is the best. Greenstone makes the best Xanax. CVS Pharmacy usually carries the best generics.

Another thing is the therapeutic effect and recreational value are a different story. When I compare .5 Clonazepam to .25 Alprazolam, i'm talking specifically in terms of recreation. I personally can't really speak to the therapeutic value, although I can say that certain benzos such as phenzepam can be taken at blackout dosages before even feeling the recreational value, so benzos are very interesting. I guess being GABA-A affective sedative hypnotic effects are much like alcohol in the sense that tolerance and preparation effect different people in wildly different fashions.
