So SWIM has had a rough last couple of weeks, and stupidly has taken 4 to 8 mg of xanax a day starting on the 1st of july. He had used them before, but only occasionally on some weekends, and would generally go weeks without taking any. How severe of withdraw symptoms (if any) should he expect? He has 6 mgs left would it help if he split that into smaller doses to be taken everyday to maybe ween him off it alittle bit? Any advice/input would be greatly appreciated.

dont use SWIM here, please! there is no need. at 4-8MG/day for only 2 weeks you may not experience ANY withdrawal; may just be a mental thing but surly STOP NOW and by stop I mean STOP ALL PILLS; do not think about just dropping the dosage.. just STOP TAKING ALL XANNY NOW!

2 weeks is not that bad, so do not expect the worst, because it surly WONT HAPPEN!

okay that is great to know thank you, i figured it wouldnt be anything serious, because of the short amount of time. But with all of the horror stories you hear about seizures and benzos i didn't want to take any chances.

everyone is different but w/ my experience you have no worries; I take benzo's usually 1-2 weeks at a time and then will stop for a month or two before starting up again; I've been through benzo withdrawal and had seizures before but that was after using for a year+ and using 2-4MG/daily. nowadays I will use 2-4MG/day but only for short periods of time, usually 1-2 weeks and ill come off feeling just fine. sure, I may feel better w/ the benzo but never experience any withdrawal or anything of the sort.

however, everyone is different but from my own experience, and what I see/read on here, you should be fine.
