32mg Hydromorphone + Xanax or diazepam?

Hello.

I am terminally ill. In which, I am on a lot of various medicines; of which I take a large amount of opiates. On a daily basis (over 24 hours), I take 120mg of ER Oxycontin (60mg pill - one in the morning, one in the evening), 80mg of Hydromorphone (8mg tabs, 2 to 4 per dose), and I am on a 36 hour rotation of two 100mcg Fentanyl Patches.

I have been on this regiment for 8 months now.

No opiate based medicine (IV or Pill) will give me a "high" sensation anymore. I also have a port-a-cath, and when admitted to the hospital receive 3 to 4mg of delaudid IV per hour. This is the maximum that my doctor feels comfortable prescribing, as the hospital/nurses always freak out with that dosage.

Anyhow... I am starting to have anxiety attacks or panic attacks. I have never had them before. I am currently ill (I have a sinus infection) and both of my nostrils are completely clogged/blocked. It is worse than normal, whereas I cannot even blow through them. This sensation is giving me a claustrophobic sensation, like I cannot breathe. I know it is mental, as I can briefly distract myself for very short periods of time and regain some comfort.

I am having this horrible sensation right now. This is the 3rd time it has occurred within the past 3 months, whereas on the other two times I have just gone into the hospital. Both times, it is a train-wreck experience. Even though I always go to the same hospital, they treat me like an alien when they review my medical charts and pain medicine. Further, no medical facility can draw blood or successfully put an IV into me (CJ's, arms, shoulders, feet, ankles, etc.) all fail. Hence, having surgery and putting in a port-a-cath. Yet, finding a nurse who has ever used one at this time of evening is also problematic.... UGH

SO.. I don't want to go into the hospital. Besides saving me about ~$1,700.00 from the trip - I would appreciate some advice here. I have in front of me some pills that another family member gave me after having the past two anxiety attacks. I have 10mg of diazepam (valium) or a yellow 901 xanax pill. I have a bunch of the yellow pills, and only two of the valiums.

I want to take one of these to calm me down right now. Yet, I have always read about people dying when putting Opiates/Xanax together. Repository depression. Yes, my freaking O2 finger reader is also out of batteries. I don't seem to have ANY god damn tripple A batteries anywhere in my house or remote control.

So - what do I take .. ASAP?

Thank you.

Really sorry to hear about your situation - assuming cancer? I fucking hate cancer.

With your massive tolerance, it's hard to answer your question.

Edit - I change my response - can you page your doctor - assuming they have an on-call- and ask? In this case, with an underlying medical condition and a wide variety of drugs, you really need sound medical advice vs BS from some old junkie.

I would talk to your doctor as soon as possible about introducing a benzo into your regimen - maybe ativan or valium - and slightly dropping your opiod daily dose. Nobody should have to suffer like you are. Good luck, keep us posted.
