Somewhere you aren't.
Went to the exchange earlier for a normal one hit kit, which are 1 ml and 30 or 31 gauge, with a built in filter, but they only had 2ml 25 gauges in stock. I explained what it was for, they said they would be fine, and would not have the others in stock for a while.

Registered with the bigger size, but it bloody hurt. Was definitely not an artery, but did not get a rush for some reason.
I can now feel it, its been about 10 minutes, could I maybe of missed some because of the size?
Just am slightly annoyed I was told it would be fine, have looked online now, and realise 25 gauge is a tad too big.
Anything I can do to help my inner elbow soreness?

Ouch....

I always had 1/2ml 29 gauge when I was shooting. I think you're fine. Just keep an eye on it.

25 gauge isn't really that big. In hospitals they typically use 14-22 for IV access. Though that is a 1 time thing for the most part. I wouldn't get in the habit of using a 25g but I'd think it shouldn't be an issue once in a blue moon.

the typical size that most exchanges pass out is 27 gage, hospital IV is usually 22-20. 25 is fine just needs to be done with care.

yep.. you are most likely slipping out or through, good hr is to re-register half way through. are you releasing your tie before you plunge?? if your cook is too hot this can also cause swelling. if/when you notice a miss or an area becoming enlarged or effected massage the area with hot water, it will help reduce the fluid retention and inflammation.

go nice and slow, a steady hand, a good clean healthy site washed with some warm water before hand and you should be fine.. .

If you really have to use a syringe that big, make sure it is on a big, strong vein, like the crook of your elbow or bicep, etc. It will completely blow smaller/more delicate veins, for example ones in the hand and wrist.

In the Brooklyn exchange try usually give 25s. They hurt and I can only use them in certain spots. I prefer 29g long tips or 30-31 shorts depending on my current good spot to go into. I'm a tiny girl with crap veins as it is. Yes 25s will blow out small veins, Been there

25 is not that far from 27.. and most of all it is clean, sterile syringes. they should have information on the different areas of the body and which veins are best to use. these would be targeted at the larger more prominent sites.

HR is about being informed and practicing that knowledge. better a new rig then an old one and a proper site to match the gage. there is plenty of information on vein care, pathways, and accessing them properly through an exchange or on the web. 25's are not the most ideal but it is not what his local exchange typically runs with and is only temporary.

Yeah I think 25 is fine, if you are using large veins normally used for running IVs, like in a hospital/medical setting. But passing them out to IV drug abusers who are going to stick them in God knows which vein, that is a bad idea.

I NEVER go under a 27g, anything less is way too big and hurts like a bitch, and I never go to a 31g because they are SOOO fragile and will break very easily...28-29 is perfect, but if ur stuck with having to use a 25g as that's all they have in stock for the size needle you need, then by all needs, use it. just take your time, and find a big juicy vein and don't get frusterated quickly, as that can lead to ya just saying fuck it and end up skin popping it or messing up..i used a 25g plenty of times, yes it hurts, but the pay off is worth it..you know what parts of ur body hurt more then others when IVing, so use ur best judgement

Ironically I learned how to IV with a 25G 1" and first tried in my hand no less, I probably tried 15 times at first trying to get a hit. I figured since I can see the veins in my hand so well it would be easy, boy was I fooled. I finally tied off and hit in the crook of my elbow. From that point on I don't use anything but a 31g 5/16" and never have any problems. However for IM I use 23G 1-1/4".

Jesus fucking christ...

Your arm is going to be a fucking nightmare....

I would find the biggest vein you can muster and go for that. anything else is just asking for a clean through miss...

my veins gone to shit over 10yrs of IVing, that's why I buy 30 or 31g, cuz I can manage to find a vein hidden in a small lump somewhere connected to a vein to register, anything more like a 27 25g bruises me and puts me in pain the next day, make me feel more like shit as an IV user, and collapsing veins fast.
