Ok, I have been a regular user of many of the stronger opiates over the past 3 years or so, but my DOC has been fentanyl. I haven't really had anything against shooting up, its just something that none of my friends did, so i never really had the opportunity to gain any experience doing so.
About a month ago, i acquired a good source for hydromorphone, 16mg exalgo to be exact. Never tried the stuff, always heard good things about it. But i knew that if you weren't planning to IV, it was basically a waste. Well, plugging turned out to be quite nice, ok i guess. My first few times, i dont remember much, as it put me to sleep rather quickly (which i found quite odd). My dosage via plugging has been 16-24mg at a time.
Ok, on to my failed IV attempt. I ran into problems, right away when trying to pull back on the plunger: it just would not draw anything into the syringe. Fyi, i was using a u-100, 1/2mL insulin syringe. The first thing i noticed, was how small the needle was, maybe 1/4 of an inch long? After letting the HM dissolve almost completely in a spoon w/water, i placed a small piece of tightly-packed cotton in it, and tried to pull back, at first gently resting the needle gently on top of the cotton, followed by pressing firmly down on it. Nothing. I guess it was getting clogged, but i even tried pulling back sink water, and it worked fine.
So, i did get a tiny bit in the syringe. I figured, what the hell, at the very least, maybe i'll get some practice. When i was pretty sure i hit the vein, i pulled back, but did not see blood?! Is this because of the tiny size of the needle??
Also, how many mgs would you think is a safe start for me? I was thinking 6-8mgs at first.
Anyways, sorry for the length. If anyone can tell me what i'm doing wrong, i would greatly appreciate it!
