Benzos 1mg Xanax compare to 10mg Valium?

Well i'm a long time reader, first time poster. I hope this is the right spot for this question.

I was wonder if 1mg xanax is equal to taking 10mg valium. I was told to compare like this, but I've took 40 mg Valium, and it didn't even come close to taking 4mg Xanax.

Most charts say that 1mg of alprazolam is equal to 20mg of diazepam...
