I thought I would give some 1st hand account details regarding my experience with Opana IR 10mg.

A little background:

I have been taking opiates for about 4 years. I have chronic pain from 2 injuries. I was taken off of 10mg Norco once I developed a tolerance and it was no longer providing pain relief. I was then put on 10 mg Oxycodone, which I very much liked and it worked great on my pain. However, I made the mistake of taking more than what was prescribed (up to 15 10mg IR a day), and when I was honest with my doctor, he took me off the oxycodone and put me on Opana IR 10mg.

I would also like to say that I do take pain medication because of medical reasons, but, I also enjoy the “high” as well.

This concerned me with the Opana. Taking Opana orally gave me NO high to speak of. Nothing. I had insufflated oxycodone in the past, and from what information I could find on Opana IR, is that snorting would give me a bit of a high and also pain relief.

I read that Opana is EXTREMELY powerful when snorted. So, starting on Wednesday I snorted a quarter pill every few hours. This did the trick. No much euphoria, but a high none-the-less. IMO, not as good as the Oxy or hydrocodone buzz, but decent and like I said, great on the pain.

I started noticing on day 3 that I was getting a near constant shortness of breath. This only got worse by day 5, I was also experiencing some chest pain, and snorted about 3 pills in a 5 hour span and I was having trouble breathing, I decided I should go to the emergency room. Better safe than sorry.

Nothing came up bad at the ER but they told me to talk to my doctor about the Opana IR. The next day I just had a quarter pill every 6 hours, and the shortness of breath was getting worse. Sleeping was difficult, so I called my doctor and they are now putting me on a different pain medication. I won’t know the specifics for another couple hours.

I am certain that it was the Opana IR causing the breathing problems. I don’t have asthma and I am not a smoker. I just thought I would get my experience with Opana IR in case others have some question regarding its strengths, weaknesses, etc.

It's possible that Oxymorphone causes more significant respiratory depression in you than Oxycodone or hydrocodone. I wouldn't doubt it.

Whether it's a dangerous amount is another question. I don't really think respiratory depression increases exponentially or anything as the dose goes up, not to what one would believe after experiencing noticeable depression on a low dose, and be afraid to go any higher. I remember in another thread someone was worried about how much respiratory depression they noticed with a low dose of heroin, and were afraid to go any higher. But someone else said it wouldn't cause to much more depression. Of course if you go TO high that's another thing.

Oxymorphone just might not be for you. I know it's very sought after by some people... Never had it personally.

Well, that shoots down my theory that perhaps insufastion was the cause! Sounds like a bad reaction. Thanks for the heads up

This would be better for the "Trip Report" sub forum of bluelight

Snorting opana is known to be especially dangerous because it can cause silicosis. A symptom of silicosis is shortness of breath...

Check silicosis out on google, and check this wiki article on silicosis

Bottom line............dont snort pills!

I snorted Morphine tabs & would get a clogged nose for several days.......um........I like breathing air/oxygen so I stopped snorting pills :)

Another update: doctor wanted to put me on morphine tablets. I said no. I dont want to take these strong pain meds anymore. So i am now on 5 10mg norco a day. I took 8 yesterday over the course of 12 hours just to ward off withdrawal.

It is crazy that i didnt feel any pain relief or high from all those norco.

How long before my tolerance comes down a bit? Even when taking about 5 norcos a day?

It might be possible that you were getting a bit of the powdered pill in your lungs, the opana 10s are pretty big, and break up finely. I'm not sure silicosis was a concern from the IR's, from what I remember reading that was a concern with people snorting the ER's. I do think it's good that you were switched off of them, snorting those made my tolerance shoot up drastically, and the w/ds are absolutely terrible.

A little bit of topic, but was this recently? I thought ENDO stopped making the instant release blue and pink opanas? or they were still on backorder and have been for a year now. maybe things have changed?

I just received 10 mg IR Generics from the pharmacy. Tiny, pink pills. Super easy to crush.
I have a severe bulging disc and pretty much can't do much of anything.
I had been taking Tramadol for awhile. Wasnt strong enough. Then Norcos. My pain/injury is gettin worse so my dr. prescribed the Opana.
Took 2 months for them to approve....
When I got them I was super suprised that they didn't have any anti crushing/biting coating. Just a tiny little pink pill.

Anyway, these are not strong orally, yet everyone says they are the strongest painkiller out there. The pharmacist even came out from behind the counter to tell me not to drive for now.... So I was kinda disappointed and still in a lot of pain.

No judgement, but I had never snorted painkillers before, but decided to give it a go.
Holy shit. Almost immediate relief. Very strong side effects. Aside from being able to move around more freely and not having pain I was also pretty "high" I definitely couldn't drive.
Downside- doesn't last as long. You build up tolerance really fast so now I'm off them for a few days. Also, worried about potential for addiction since it works so well....

ANY thoughts?
And is there a 24 hour limit like Tramadols? I definitely don't want to die here... ..
