Benzos ¿Can I ever touch a benzo again?

It's been about a year since I last used a benzo. I had been pretty hooked on them for a while but that was a couple of years back, in the last couple years of my use I only did them after stims (which was at the very least once a week). As I said, I've had a sort-of addiction to these stuff with mild withdrawal symptoms (anxiety, a little numbness on my hand, mood swings), but it's been a long-ish time since all of that and I have used them "responsibly" (not!) for some time after that.
Now, I know that after you kicked addiction you ain't supposed to ever touch this stuff again. I also know that when an addiction comes back it comes back full blown back to the worst point of your old addiction and it goes from there, or at least that's been the case for me. Anyhow, I would really like to use them for stim comedowns again and maybe as a hangover cure, for which I know they are great.
Is the answer obvious? Thoughts?

I think you answered your own question.

It's a strange thing with addiction though. I find with myself (my DOC is heroin, or ideally heroin + cocaine), that now, after six years of having absolutely no self control over my opiate use, I suddenly (possibly because I'm on methadone though not a blocking dose)seem to be able to chip with little effort. The problem comes when I have a lot of money to spend and can afford a good binge. As it is now though, I can use once a week/2 weeks and have no desire to do it again the next day. However, I do believe that continuing such a pattern of use is really only putting myself at risk for becoming strung out again.

It's really hard to say whether you'll be able to use benzo's responsibly again. On the one hand, one could argue that the fact that you are concerned over it at all means that you spend an unhealthy ammount of time thinking about it, so the answer is most likely no. BUT, I also feel that spending too much time focusing on not using a substance can backfire, and lead to a relapse which can be very self defeating and depressing. I try and stick with an attitude where picking up isn't ideal, or excusable, but it's also not rape or murder-so getting down on myself about it isn't really helping myself or anyone else.

If you feel that benzo's have brought you to a place that you don't want to return to, then logically avoiding them would probably be your best course of action.

Benzos aren't a drug worth being addicted to, the withdrawals simply aren't worth the effects.

Opiates are hard enough to get off for me, with terrible anxiety. I could only imagine a Benzo withdrawal and that scares the shit out of me.

@Znegative I'm not actually too hung up on these thoughts, I only want to do benzos for sleep aid or calming down (as opposed to shutting my brains off which was how I used them before). It's not like I'm craving benzos or anything.
About my old use, it was weird because I never realized that I was hooked until I stopped using. Not like opiates or stims which I could feel myself getting hooked as time went by. Benzos caught me by surprise.
I know I shouldn't.. Heck, I probably wont do it-- Thanks guys.

Yeah, I apologize if I came across as preachy. I've had problems with benzo's myself and out of almost all the drugs I've used, Xanax is the hardest for me to accept that I really have an issue with it. When I was younger I used benzo's in a very sloppy manner, basically blacking out everytime I consumed them, but over the years I learned to appreciate their therapeutic effect, and though I would still buy them primarily off the street (I've had scripts for clonazepam too), I wasn't looking to get fucked up, and would take the bare minimum dosage to get relief. The problem for me, is that even when I use benzo's in a more "responsible" manner, I always inevitably end up taking dosages way higher than the max prescribed ammount due to the ever-imcreasing tolerance.

i think the simplistic answer is, probably not.

Remember, you said it yourself that you got addicted to these without even realizing it, unlike opiates and other drugs. This is simply because benzo's don't really give the user a euphoric high, but rather just lesson anxiety and other symptoms, which aren't really to noticble effects. Yet they have the worst withdrawals on the planet just about, I know this is bad advice but you'd be better off using opiates then benzo's, at least the withdrawal can't kill you. And some benzo's have half life well over a hundred hours, which makes withdrawals and PAWS possibly last YEARS. That is not worth it... find the source of your problems, fix it from their. Benzo's are a short term medical tool, most importantly to just stop seizures and really high palpitations and tachycardia in hospitals, and as former addict should never touch them again.

You gotta be kidding me. finally got my Xanax script and it does me wonders it makes my life a whole lot better. The only problem now is living without it, that causes anxeity i guess but it doesnt outwiegh the anxeity i suffer with in the first place. Only been scripted recently and like i honestly need them so i use them as needed, i could nvr find myself gettin in trouble with them. I take 4mg clonazepam a day as well that gives a nice barrier but its breakable plus i also had a seizure so theres that as well but dam 4mg a day + Xanax in the wallet!! LETS GO GET A JOB.

^lol wtf, i'm sure you'll soon find out that benzos will worsen your anxiety in the long run, as the actual source or cause of the issue isn't being treated and is just left to get worse and worse.

OP: i'd say you can touch a benzo again but only do it for therapeutic purposes. Take the lowest dose possible and never take them multiple days in a row and space as far apart as possible. I get 8 5mg valium per month and that works for me, even with 2 x 5mg per week i don't even come close to an addiction or dependency. My previous tolerance has also rendered benzos useless for recreation anyway, you'll probably find the same if you ever try them again.

lol yeh dawg, no they wont, the sauce cant be cured just medicated/treated. The only treatment that works is as i said.

Dammit I had a comment almost identical to robot ripping. Damn phone didn't click submit but at least that same info was stated. Its all about why your using, is it "medically" for anxiety and stim comedown, or is it just to get high or potentiate the nod

Edit. Dude above me, I'm sorry but u are deluding yourself. Benzos are only TRULY effective with short term dosage regimens. You don't have t
o believe it but it's the damn truth.
