More than likely a 100% difference, by which you mean homegrown is twice as good or they are 100% different things? Either way examine the statement. The way capitalism works is they are motivated to turn out the best product possible so you buy theirs not a different brand. (or from your buddy that grows)

Someguyontheinternet -- I don't disagree too much about them all being similar other than taste but I think that is just a rough quality cap out? Send in a sample of each and get the full breakdown is about the only way I could see finding what the mystery element is. *unless it is indeed Nana's love* --- One more quick point, the blackmarket is inconsistent so if you get a really good bag once and a while that bag prolly will make you higher than if you get a good bag every time. (Idk just eliminating or pointing out variables)

there's a difference between producers and remember we can't test for all minor cannabinoids partially because we are still discovering some AFAIK

I don't think its a quality cap because none of those products are good to me, they're simply sufficient

when I've tried things from smaller producers even the same strain as one of the corporate producers there is a subjective difference but also its usually only with full spectrum products

there must be constituents that are lacking and it could be possible to identify them with HPLC-MS and a bunch of time...
 
^ That is a theory based on a premise I (Believe) to be correct. Perhaps something worth looking into! I would be failing if I didn't at least mention the possibility of "Setting Affect" ( You get less high in the place you are use to using -- it has been cited for the reason of overdose on some hard drugs) and the small possibility of placebo.

The one place I know growing what I'd call "almost" dispensary grade insists it is better and has everyone that smokes the weed insisting on a similar premise as the one put forward.

They also hate dispensaries, pretty sure I lost my trimming job cuz I didn't fall in lock step..... like true passion "They are the reason my fucking kids aren't eating and I am struggling to pay the bills" level hate.

"Can't compete with Walmart" is kinda my shorthand version.....I too am out a bit of easy money. Pretty sure I am saving way more than I made... and not taking crazy risks for something that was lesser quality.

I am going to assume you have tried the deli style non remediated weed? I have a buddy that grows "Veganic weed" which apparently is very expensive but I would not say stronger. Smoother maybe (Or maybe I too am I victim of placebo)
 
I do make an effort to be aware of the impact of changing environments on the effect of drugs, its a very important thing to consider when thinking about possible brain states

I've had products which do and don't have the desired effect in my usual environment and other environments so at least with this N of 1 that has been relatively controlled for so I do genuinely think there is some difference in constituents but I don't know what exactly

I do make an effort to try out smaller producers when I have the chance and many times their products are more agreeable
 
The reason people think there's no difference between Sativa and Indica is that most all or all dispensary weed is mostly Indica. Much of it is lied about and the stuff that is actually a fair amount of Sativa has had the Sativa high bred out of it. That's also at least part of the reason that everyone thinks weed is stronger now. It is indeed easier to always find strong weed as opposed to searching for it, but that heavy Indica high is a big factor as well.

I don't know why it took me so long to figure out. Sativa has always been harder to grow and fetched much higher prices when grown indoors (or temperate America). So, of course when weed became big business they went to the cheapest production and deceptive labeling to try to turn the biggest profit. Sativa became a marketing ploy, the victim of the American way of taking something good, painting it's face, and putting it out on the street to make a buck.

Yes, with dispensary weed nowadays there is little difference between Sativa and Indica. Does not mean there is no difference between Sativa and Indica. It's just like so many other things, a victim of corporate greed. It's always been uber hard to breed a real Sativa high into pot and still retain fast production and cosmetics. Indica highs will always feel stronger.
 
^That I cannot argue with. Sativa's tended to be long and tall and not yield nearly as much --- in addition to a longer flowering period (or veg I forget I haven't grown in a minute).. But longer time + smaller yield + larger area needed really discouraged from growing sativa's.

I chose a sativa strain once and (Honestly I regret it) was highly ridiculed about the plants performance....... I think most 100% sativa strains are gone/hard to find at minimum. So in that since it could be different absolutely -- sativa seeds aren't easy to come by either as people be liars and want to tell you that you getting a sativa with a "big yield - short time" which inevitably is BS. (I am sure there are exceptions but none I am aware of atm)

Or, they are indeed more Sativa in the genetics but they've had that Sativa high bred right out of them along with the breeding for high production. (Or, as you said, people lie. Big business got a hold of pot. Why would we be surprised at such things?)
 
Agreed -- an indica sativa hybrid is basically an indica in most cases; at least IME. Nothing surprising about it; sativa seems to be the inferior of the two in most ways that are profitable...
 
I like this girl a lot. Some of her other videos bemoan the problem finding non-sedating weed. In this one, she discusses terpenes. Her neuroscience will be simplistic to bluelighters but she begins to catalog terpene effects. As she says it's other cannabinoids as well, but terpenes are not well documented yet.

 
"Terpenes" --- Also the go to pitch of the guy I know growing close to disp grade...I bought "Sauce" before "You prefer terpenes or THC" --- THC if I have to choose?

We know that terpenes are not a large percent compared to THC -- I guess the next logical question would be are terpenes more potent than THC? (Real question) If so (either way) I say investigate ahead. If not -- till not I don't worry about terpenes too much. "Better to have em than not, bigger difference between TAC and THC the more terpenes" Is that roughly an accurate statement?

I know when they had THC/A crystals you could literally choose which terpene you wanted to add from a drop down menu. (Never ordered through them so I can't say ish other than it was theoretically an option)
 
I'm coming to fnd that terpenes matter. CBD and other minor cannabinoids do as well, maybe moreso. But, terpenes do have an effect, or modify the effect.
 
I agree completely. To what extent is more the question that I don't know if there are any answers too. (I have read which ones are suppose to give what effects but beyond that subjective measure)

Would be interested to try terps with NO THC to see if that is something that would be enjoyable. (I presume so)
 
I live in Colorado, I would never smoke that shit they sell here in the pot shops. It's loaded with pesticides. The "high" you're getting is from the shit they spray on them. Truast me. I've seen it personally and many shops actually print the shit they used on them on paper to customers to see. Pot shops here don't give a fck about their weed, just about the money. Spray the fuck of them and keep the money rolling in..NO MATTER WHAT. And their listing of THC levels? More lies.

Grow your own or find a real farmer who grows clean. And disregard the shops advertising "organic" as it's all bullshit as well. No one is checking/inspecting. Organic means nothing other than they'll get higher prices off the crap.

yeah its all awful.... even if you buy the highest grade its only slightly better. been in co 5 years i haven't seen a sticky nug yet lol

Used to be is right. I use to get it all shipped from BC and it was beyond killer, but those same mail order mj places (aka MOMs) now all focus on 75 ozs. That is what the Canadian market wants, they don't want quality, they want dirt cheap. You cant even really find quads, unless you can grow them yourself. This country, at least the central and eastern parts, wasn't comprised of cannabis snobs. When given the chance to demand quality, they demanded cheap.

I don't know what's wrong with the weed, but i think the THC numbers are off. A lot of it sits on shelf long time. I did see they finally are allowing farm fresh in alberta, buying from the site they grow it all, like brew pubs. I like my weed fresh, dry isn't the same, and most legal is bone dry. There are a lot of problems with weed in 2025. Over production, mislabeled strains, lack of places to legally consume, or even have some sort of cannabis cup, legally. The best you can hope for is a strain review on reddit, I thought the market would be more developed and mature by now, I still have to illegal source edibles because of the 10 mg cap on them. The only thing better is the cost i couldnt get 75 dollar ozs in 1988, weed is the only thing that went down in price, its not better though. ;

You would think some legal producer would shoot for being the best of the best, maybe you cant in a set up like this. Nanny state over regulation really ruins cannabis. Everyone making hash adds oils and shit to it so its greasy, almost no old school actual hash. The cheap shatter is good, i guess. I could endlessly rant about legal weed in Canada, they did it just repeating same "protect the children" mantra. The laws put in place were for the people who did not consume, which is a bizarre way to regulate something, the government set out to placate the anti weed people, instead of design a system for the consumers.

We have these giant corporations now growing the weed, and none of the have a breeding program, they literally stole genetics from black market to start out, and haven't advanced anything. Its just robber barons, all of them. I recommend stashing some decent seeds as that industry is in danger too, we are going to lose diversity. The breeders are not getting jobs in legal cannabis, there are none. Not sure how long some rebels in Amsterdam are goin keep at it, the same market forces are at work here too, playing big bucks for stable new genetics is something the great growers do, the people who don't care buy 20 dollars bag seed.

No craft cannabis in legal market here. Organic by the way is legally defined in Canada, if it says it is, it is. It almost never is though, asking Google AI lists a half dozen certified organic producers in Canada (I recognize one name, i don't like their stuff, organic doesn't mean good)

^The THC #'s are def off for previously discussed reasons in addition to yours. I have the option of bubble hash temple ball or concentrate --- bottom line I go concentrate. 10 mg cap on edibles that does suck and is a problem, cheaper to make a 1g edible (about 8 bucks) from a gram of live resin w/e....

I put MI's medical against anything anyone is growing--- you ever wanna send samples in I'll provide one
 
Oh please spare me the Oh Canada propaganda. We'll get the facts only in a couple decades, if lucky... The same as for cigarettes, and more.
