HELL TO THE YES! I have had the closest thing to a spiritual experiences at a few very specific shows. the 1st full day of music in 2006,we had a shitty camp site, there was no weed and i bought a quarter sheet of fake acid.this was 6 months after the accident that almost killed me. so sober as hell-and angry about that fucker selling me fake cid i went to the 2nd biggest stage.
Matisyahu was playing before Bonnie Raitt who i HAD to see. i had gotten into a relationship w/ my best girlfriend after my accident bc i was on heavy drugs and she was conducting a science experiment. in april we went to dinner,she dropped me off and i never heard from her again. i wanted to hear "I can't make you love me" and not shed a tear.
well Matisyahu fucked that up. he was incredible-constantly spreading peace and love and he said"isn't this a great day...to be here. to be alive." and i lost it. I just gave into the music and the message and was so full of love and life and was able to make peace. when Bonnie finally sang my song,i took off crip running-walking boot and cane and camera. i got as close as i could and began firing shots. i did not cry,but i was shaking with a serendipitous release and feeding off the crowd's energy.
right after that we went back to camp b4 the big show-Radio Head played that night. low and behold...2 guys 3 tents down had an Oz of AK-47. it was on.
i have gone alone when no one else would go bc i wanted to see Neil Young and Dylan again-The Dead w/ Joan Osbourn,Trey and Dave Matthews.
i will run from one show halfway through bc i have to see certain artists.
the drugs are a plus. and they are EVERYWHERE(except for the above mentioned day) ppl pass u a joint and the entire 700 acres smells like the best skunk,funk bud you can imagine.Going to shows is MY MOST FAV THING IN THE WORLD. I think it goes back to my Cherokee roots-out in mountains,free,living in a community that is so prolific and the dancing. Half crippled or not,rain,lightening,hard core storms...if i am there to see a show,I see that show. I have seen legends! this year i see neil young again-loretta lynn,widespread(like the 7th panic show ive been to-and is one of my fav bands to see live.nothing like Panic!)I have sparked a joint w/ 150,000 ppl when ben harper and jack johnson sang "I'm gonna burn one down". i have burst into tears-happy cleansing tears and danced my fucking heart out. I take my own goodies-just in case,this year I hit the jack pot. Mollie is coming w/ me....and there is enough of her to go around. I make a lil cash-spend a lot o cash(i tried to take a grand but this year will not be that much.but i stock up on stuff to bring home-for special occasions through out the year. sure i trip,roll,get a lil lost in a k hole,but my use there is limited. the energy is so intense that you don't need much of anything to blow the fuck up. and then i have plenty of goodies to bring home and play with friends on bdays,4th o july-though i am not exactly a patriot,new years,ect...
when I saw the line up this year I cried bc i was afraid the rents wouldn't buy one for me b4 they sold out-Bonnaroo has become my xmas in JUNE. i cld care less about gifts at xmas. I go bc i have this primordial need to just let loose and be free. if ever i scored zero drugs-i would still have a blast. i bet i have seen over 100 shows,EASY,just from my 5 years at bonnaroo. and this is my 6th year and the 10th anniversary. it's gonna blow every one's mind.I take mad pics and vids.i'll post em when I get home so you can see a little bit more of what Bonnaroo is.ooohhh i can't wait!!!

sorry so long. i am just so excited and i wish so much i could get you all there to experience the festival. again...the drugs are the bonus. it's the shows that keep me coming back.Last edited:

oh man...i happened upon this just as the post was made that she passed away. i read that whole thread,never knew her,but felt so much love and admiration for how she chose to deal w/ the cards she was dealt. she had a rough life and was so young. it is terribly sad but inspiring, and a wake up call to all of us when we get so down we think there is only one way out.
and yes it makes me want to give as much as i can while i can. glad you posted that BA.

That story got me to thinking about "pallatative care"..
If I had terminal cancer, I would refuse treatment and stick with pallatative care..I THINK..but I do have some concerns..
I would want to be SURE that they gave me whatever fucking meds I wanted. But IME, doctors can be cocksuckers. When gramps was on his death bed, he was being given the "standard" 2 mgs of morphine, along with some BS benzo (atitvan, maybe?), and someone had to fuss with the doctors to get the dosage upped to 4 mgs.
4 mgs of morphine my ass!! When I'm dying, I would want something like 20 mgs of Dilaudid every 2-3 hrs.
Plus, while I'm going through the whole "waiting to die" thing, where I'm still up and moving around, I don't want the docs to limit my meds either. Does anyone know if docs can be pricks in that kind of situation? Or do they give you what you want?

do you have a living will???might want to look into that as well as power of attorney. hospice is always an option. so is refusing care. i have known several people who opted for house over hospital. I would too. My ordeal in ICU .then that much hospitalization is what changed my mind about going to medical school.
I have had enough hospitals. I can still get my PhD. and help ppl-just can't write RXs-probably a good thing.
It is a sad,morbid subject but something everyone should think of. I want a green funeral-which I doubt will happen,so i opted to be cremated and my ashes set off in a firecracker like Hunter S. Thompson.probably on top of the Blue Ridge Mountains,near Cherokee.
