Centralising Pill Info Requests into State and Territory groups

Over the preceding months there has been a considerable increase in the prevalence of Pill Info Requests within the Australian Drug Discussion. Although a definitive answer as to why this has occurred is not available, it could be because consumer confidence in Pillreports has decreased amongst Bluelight users, the summer munt festival season is/was underway or just because people prefer the Bluelight feedback system. No matter what the reason is for the increase, it has been decided that all future Pill Info Requests will be centralised into State and Territory groups. This will ensure more accurate and area specific information is provided to the requester, easier search functionality for local pills and presses is available as well as ensuring important HR threads are not bumped due to an excessive amount of PIR’s on the first page.

This change will ultimately be of benefit to the forum as a whole - although it may mean more moderation and memberation is needed in the coming weeks. It will ensure those that are not particularly interested in trawling through PIR after PIR stay interested in the forum and its ultimate HR goals. Similarly, those who like to keep a keen eye on circulating pills can do so in State and Territory groups. There may be an initial condemnation for this change, however, rest assured that Pill Info Requests of particular interest or HR value will be afforded their own threads – this includes mass circulating pills with a considerable user interest. Obviously this will be determined on a case by case basis and at the request of any member who believes there is good reason for an individual PIR thread.

All the usual requirements of PIR’s will still be required, however, more diligence will need to be shown when creating replies. If everyone could take an extra second to put a header on their posts indicating what pill they are commenting on then it will make everyone’s life a great deal easier. Alternatively, rather than using the quick reply function, use the ‘Go Advanced’ function and put a title on your post.

In the coming days the State and Territory specific threads will be created and the thread specific requirements touched on above will be built on further. If anyone has any further suggestions then please feel free to have your voice heard in this thread. :)

sounds like a good idea to me angel, definately should free up a bit of space in the forum thats for sure :) Im just wondering though if these threads will be sticky? I dare say they wont need to be as they shoul be close to the top of the threads most of the time.

Aha yes my suggestion has been put forward, I suggested to hoptis about making a whole nother forum but that would cause to much work for other people and use up a lot more of the bandwidth I'm guessing...

This will make things a lot easier to search for and find at times, although once the thread starts to get a lot larger I see it as becoming a pain in the arse but I guess people will look into that when the time comes.

A naive question / point of view. Sometimes pills often hit one state and then are released in another state a couple weeks later. From what I've seen maybe 10% of pills are common between states (guesstimate - others may have a different number) . One thing we may lose in having state based threads is any cross pollination between the state based PIR's?

Thoughts?

my innerself - I don't imagine there will be any need for the sticky as these threads will be active enough to keep them on the front page. Keep in mind that any threads created for a specific State will be merged into the appropriate State thread which will then be bumped to the top of the page. Pill availabilty in each state will determine how active each thread is.

mushi mushi 88 - There is another forum for PIR's Mush - It's called Pillreports. ;) The propensity for people to create their own PIR’s on Bluelight is not only killing PR but also damaging the effectiveness of the reporting system as a whole.

There doesn’t seem to be an issue with people finding prints in the LSD Info Request so I doubt we will face a problem with finding presses in State specific PIR’s.

uk_pman – I understand your concern in this matter uk_pman, however, general search criteria will find this information if required. The ‘cross pollination’ as you put it can be just as much a detriment as an advantage due to the propensity for presses of differing markings being present in two states at once. If, however, there is necessary ‘cross pollination’ required then I’m sure it will occur due to our very perceptive and knowledgeable user group.

Sounds like a good idea. I second the point raised about BL users having less faith in pillreports, too many fake reports by dealers trying to push there shit IMO. But this should be a very usefull tool in both cleaning up the front page and being a great information database.

goodwork

I think this is a fantastic idea. Lately i, as well as many of my mates have lost faith in PR, the abundance of dealer reports or ridiculous one line posts saying 'sik pill bro i triple dropped and was off mah face' has removed what little credibility the sight had left imo.

Providing the Bluelight community with a state based forum will hopefully allow more thoughtful contributions in an effort to promote HR and help us avoid purchasing potnetially harmful or worthless pills.

Angel, I guess PIRs are more prevalent than user reports on PR because, people use BL to find out about a pill before they use it, rather than report on it after they use it. Maybe PR needs an area for PIR for pills not taken?!

I think the move to have State based PIR on BL is a good idea, people can always look in other states if they can't find what they are looking for

You can mark a pill report as 'not consumed' and wait for comments?

The problem with this 1 thread per state system for pill reports is no one reads them.
It wont work unless you enforce it, ie. transfer other 'one off' threads to the relevant state thread then delete the original.

Also the floral emblem latin name thing is just confusing. Leads one to think the thread is about some new psychedelic shrub my grandma dug up in her garden.

^ I agree.
I only realized what was going on after noticing that there was a thread for each state. I also think that having all requests in one thread will get confusing when people try to reply, or if people reply without quotes.

pill reports is shit there is too many noobs thinking they know everything and they wouldnt know MDMA if it smacked them in the face!

totally agree with u there mate its as if theres people asking for peoples opinions and no ones cares to look. its a good idea in thought but put it into pratice and it dosent seem to be working to well :(
People skim past it looking for the PIR on the ADD screen and when they cant find it dont look any further quite a shame really :(

Hmm... we are doing what SteveElektro by merging the individual PIR threads into the relevant state threads. One of the main reasons for this is because we don't want people using this forum as a substitute for PR; I mean there's no reason to double-up on function.

Perhaps it would help if we linked to each state thread in the forum header?

I've put quick links in the forum header, hopefully that should make the threads a lot easier to find. Change is never easy to get used to but please give it a shot. With the forum getting busier, having the front page full of PIR threads makes the forum a mess to navigate and devalues the role PR is supposed to play.

I thought you couldn't post a report on PR without selecting either "consumed" or "tested"? And if you select either and you haven't tested or consumed the pill mods will delete your report?

There should be all the states in one thread. The names are soo gay too lol

Anyone else think the NSW Pill Info thread isn't quite working?

Seems nobody bothers to look unless they see the name of their particular pill in the main ADD forum.

Any chance of going back to the old way?

[EDIT: Moved from the NSW thread. hoptis]
