Any experiences with Sertraline (ZOLOFT) for anxiety?

I've tried it, but couldn't stand the anal seepage.. I don't care how effective it is for anxiety, you still won't feel comfortable around people if you just shit yourself.

ya i never had shit leak outta my ass..wtf...you just need to shit regularly man...

it did not do much for anxiety but will give you wierd wd's ... i went from 150mg to 0 pretty much cold turkey..it wasnt terrible but you get weird effects for a good 2 weeks...

i felt like a rushing feeling in my head when i looked side to side or took a deep breath...weird dreams/sleep patterns...adrenaline jolts...just weird stuff..not comfortable...had a thread about it when i stopped using zoloft...just feel like it did something to my brain after taking it for that long and idk..

try it i guess...i doubt it will do anything if you have legit anxiety problems...and i think it can even make it worse as first...i've tried lexapro and zoloft and last time i went to my psych he wanted to try Prozac...

"fuck that"- i said...

and discussed whether i could try gabapentin or pregablin as benzos are kind of outta the question bc my age and he knows i smoke weed and might do other stuff..

All I'm saying is if you take it and don't want it, taper...I seriously attempted suicide because I quit taking it suddenly because I was afraid of that. I made my own fears come true I believe but I don't take SSRIs as a rule anymore for any reason.

IME, it was very effective for anxiety, but the physical side effects are a little harsh, and the 'discontinuation syndrome' of SSRIs is nasty. if you've taken it for more than a few weeks adn want to stop taking it, taper as slowly as possible.

I've been on it for 1 1/2 years. I had taken a few other ssri's in the past with little effect. I started on zoloft for anxiety only. I had developed such a severe phobia of food I became disgusting underweight sickly (I saw the emaciation, didn't think I was fat or anything, just couldn't eat d/t anxiety surrounding it). Anyway, it worked amazingly for me. Took the edge off enough so that I could get myself healthier. I was on 150mg/day, but I've been slowly tapering down now that I'm feeling so much better. Works differently for everyone but for me it was amazing--the one ssri that actually was significantly beneficial for me.

The friends I've known who tried Zoloft all ended up kicking it, and going through hellish withdrawals. Just something to consider down the road.

Zoloft was the first medication I was ever prescribed. It was the year 2002 and I was 13 going on 14, in a point in my life where I was confused by the worlds mechanics and depressed about the unexciting ordinary lifestyle I was "supposed" to lead as well as suffering from severe SAD and GAD. Anyway, in taht mindset, convinced that everything made no sense and wasn't worth a second of my time, I subconciouslly told myself no zombie medication was strong enough to reverse my perception of things or my general mood on a day to day basis. And unsurprisingly the stuff did absolutely nothing but make me sweaty and hungry all the time. By the end of the 4 month zoloft trial I was so suicidal and blamed the zoloft, flushed it down the toilet and within a week my mood was better and I stopped pigging out and watching shitty sitcoms.

I've tried every anti-d and anti anxiety med approved for medical use... except lexapro. None have done anything but break my wallet and piss me off.

You have to believe anti-d's will work or they won't work, thats just how THEY work. It's almost placebo, almost, not quite, the mind is more powerful than some shitty overpriced drug that dulls your senses and makes you twice as likely to kill yourself.

It's better just to let time fix your problem, I have been suffering from anxiety since about 11 years old, I'm 21 now and still suffer from it, but I'm older, wiser and as you learn more about the world and how it works things will frighten and bug you less.

This will have either helped you or made you lose hope, but the truth must be told.

I'm suffering from anxiety-induced by benzodiazepine withdrawal, so SSRI withdrawals don't really bother me that much at all. I've quit Lexapro CT, Paxil CT and felt slightly homicidal when withdrawing from Paxil. Nothing compares to benzo withdrawal!

honestly SSRI's should only be perscribed when everything else fails. If your still taking any illegal drugs you should stop for 3 months and re asses. Most people on this sit are druggies and will not tell you that recreational drug use facilitates the need for this sorta stuff in some people. Trust me I am one of them. Includes Pot too.

I'm substituing Zoloft for a 6mg a day Clonazepam prescription. I don't place myself in the recreational drug scene, more like a scene where drugs are fun, not a life centre around drugs to have fun..

Zoloft and Lexapro were recently rated as the top 2 ssri antidepressants on the market. My life changed within 2 weeks of starting it

I was on it for several months. The withdrawl was horrible, both mental and physical, but the medication works pretty well and feels more real than prozac. I would reccomend it.

It was great for me for years but then stopped working. Its one of the better working ssri's despite this tho

^ this happened to me too.
I was on it for 4 years and the dosage was constantly being adjusted because I felt like it "plateaued" very easily. It had it's moments where it worked, and then I would slowly feel like it wasn't working anymore. It is better than some other meds out there though. And everyone is right with the quitting cold turkey thing, I stopped it cold turkey at one point and had a really bad anxiety attack.

I have anxiety issues and zoloft worked just fine for me....for a little while...then it just stopped working. This has been true of all AD's I've taken: they work for a little while and then they're practically useless. Effexor has also been pretty useful for anxiety as well for me.

As for the withdrawal thing- depends on who you are. I don't find SSRI withdrawal to be such a big deal. Then again- I've suffered w/d from opiates so maybe that colors my thinking a bit.

I disagree. The druggies on bluelight out of any druggies would be the first to tell you that you use something too much. This is a harm reduction forum and surely excessive use falls into the harm category. If this were another popular drug site I'd agree 100% but, here not so much.

I got prescribed Zoloft yesterday and started taking it last night. I totally see what you mean man. I got diarrhea that was out of this world! Had to chug like half a huge bottle of Pepto to get that shit to stop. I'm scared to continue taking it.

^ I've gotten it the first time I used Effexor as well. Didn't use Zoloft for more than 1 day in a row. With Effexor the sudden diarrhea disappeared with the second usage. Try taking it once more and see if it still persists. It might though since i've used it again a different time and got the same thing, but their was a huge time gap between. I guess you just gotta let your body adjust
