What will the radical left do after the Trump win

I gotta say, I can’t be a hypocrite anymore. If an authoritarian branch of the other side existed and had power I wouldn’t blink an eye or feel bad if magats and Christians were being sent off to labor camps in El Salvador. I don’t think I’d have the vindictiveness inside me to do it myself; but I wouldn’t shed a tear for them.

I’m really no better than them in terms of sticking to American principles. These principles have been destroyed so why should one side continue to stick to them? and now it’s just time for war. We just seem to be on the losing team which sucks
You see - there's the problem. I would. I will never feel good about a government that does bad things in support of causes I may align with - you can't trust that stuff. Treat issues and people fairly and equally. We deserve to be afforded that much. I don't want to be right or to win, I want our leadership to approach governance fairly.

I believe in fairness as something that should be applied broadly. I don't want 'rules for thee but not for me', that's not the spirit or language of the declaration of independence or the constitution. There have been edits to recognize the concept of citizenship and voting to further update that language over time, and in the end it still holds that we should all be afforded the same rights, whether we were born here or simply as guests.

My problem with what happened to this woman is that she's being sent somewhere without due process, and without precedent, via a highly politicized process that can be very easily evolve into new precedent for how political adversaries are treated, or even those presumed to be adversaries. There is clear historic precedent for where acts like this tend to go over time - they become less judicious and sweep more broadly, with the standard of error becoming less relevant in time. I know this because I studied history as part of a healthy liberal arts education that upheld the sciences AND the humanities. Many young people today are offered academics that prioritize either STEM, or curricula based in religion. Many still are taught at home, outside of the classroom and away from input from a multitude of view points. It's very easy to miss the nuances of history, and how those patterns repeat, when time isn't taken to explore and understand these things.

I believe in free speech, and I believe there is a standard of decency that should be honored when speaking. I won't shout "fire" in a crowded theatre because that can cause panic and lead to people becoming trampled. I also won't make baseless accusations about someone in order to manipulate the uneducated to do my bidding. I believe that without these standards, we are dead and valueless. We're no longer a civilization, but hungry zombies swiping at one another.

bingo.

we don't suspend due process, even for ppl who really annoy us.

suspending due process is how we get judge dredds, and they won't only go after ppl who annoy us. next up is tyranny against our law- abiding friends and family.

What point do you think you're proving here? I don't think their argument hinges on her support of Hamas beginning at any specific moment in time.
It actually does
Yeah it's a student visa, and she lied on the application, so now her visa is revoked

She's been here for like 5+ years and the op-ed is a year old. You do the math

Just do the math

Did she lie on the application by using a time machine to go back and apply?

I don’t really feel good about it….but when two opponents are playing a game and only one side is cheating and the other side plays by the rules, the cheaters will win 100% of the time.

how does the opposition stand a chance without fighting fire with fire and sticking to rules that the other side tramples over?

I find it funny that we are even still talking about how elections will fix this. We don’t even realize the elections are permanently rigged and not an avenue for change anymore. We are in for a rude awakening in 2026 and 2028…and most people seem to not to want to even wake up to this.

By Trump admin logic, even if her visa was legit it can be revoked by vocally "expressing support" for terrorist organizations. Idk the details of this case, when what happened etc, but I don't think it's any more complicated than that.

I personally don't want people rounded up and deported for wrongthink
That would be too much like what happens here lol

If it's proven they're on a visa and they were participating in vandalism, breaking and entering, causing other violent escalations during the campus protests, I think that could be a different story.

But if it's just expressing opinions I think it's better just to leave it. You end up giving bad ideas more power when you try to forcibly suppress them.

I'd rather play fairly and lose, and I'll never support leaders who think otherwise. Trump is a hypocrit, a liar, and he's turning the US into a nation of complicit liars that hide behind stuff that most of us didn't earn instead of facing who we are. At the end of the day,I can look at myself in the mirror and feel good about who I see looking back. I know that I stand for the things I believe in, and no one who talks with me would ever question those values. You don't need to play mind games to figure out what I mean, or what I'm actually saying.

Games are for children.

But hey, that Alex Garland flick with Keith Urban was the shit eh? Someday the future of the US will indeed require such figures I’m afraid. Run, run from the cities while you still can and land is affordable-ish.

Oh okay, so she simply just showed support for acknowleging Isreal as genocidal while also demanding the university pull it's money out of any companies with direct or indirect ties to Israel, which totally isn't due to her supporting Hamas
wait, are you trying to say that the bds movement and criticizing israel's war crimes is intrinsically intertwined with supporting hamas?

that's fuckled. and bad faith.

you're helping the fascists with their b.s./ rhetoric, which has real- life consequences.

shameful.

wait... i'm confused... are you actually advocating for judge dredd types?
No, it's a comic. But wouldn't it be nice if justice could actually be dolled out rather than what we have?

I've seen the dark side of the justice system first hand and it turns my stomach. We as society have failed. Maybe something a bit more streamlined is in order.

i rather like due process, i think the constitution is great and human rights.

i know that makes me a labelled terrorist under this fascist regime, but there it is, i'm guilty of loving america i guess.

something "more streamlined".... sounds a lot like suspending the constitution. doesn't sound like justice. sounds like fasces love, imo.

If you dislike Trump or disagree with him, it at least makes you one of the, "radical left" apparently.

American shit is now spilling over into Canada. We have this fucking conservative cunt (cant remember his name) who is saying hes going to send people to El Salvador and make critizing the israeli apartheid state illegal. So basically hes another fascist zionist like trump and is sucking israeili's cock

The way things are developing, I wouldn't be surprised if that "rude awakening" is the US being at war. And I assure you this is not hyperbole...it's just a feeling I have. (Hopefully I'm wrong!)

I'm not an alarmist or a latter-day Chicken Little, just someone who really, really pays attention to shit.

Understatement of the century: Things don't look too fucking good.
