2024 US Presidential Election

Sheesh. People on both sides are fired up about this election. My county's early voting location has seen record numbers even beating 2020 when a lot of people voted early due to lockdown and Covid. I've been there personally and seen those turnouts.

People are just looking for anything they can to challenge this election. All of America can see this. I smell the desperation and the intent to win this election by cheating after the voting and it makes me nauseous. Never thought I'd see this in America.

(before anyone picks apart the "all of America", I obviously mean a large percentage of people across many poliical and geographical lines, not every man, woman, and child in America)

The only way i'll believe the election is fair is if the voter turnout is less than record. because I mean, cmon.

why?

"The elections of 2018, 2020 and 2022 were three of the highest-turnout U.S. elections of their respective types in decades. About two-thirds (66%) of the voting-eligible population turned out for the 2020 presidential election – the highest rate for any national election since 1900. The 2018 election (49% turnout) had the highest rate for a midterm since 1914. Even the 2022 election’s turnout, with a slightly lower rate of 46%, exceeded that of all midterm elections since 1970." (source, pew research)

in many other countries the voter turnout rate is significantly higher (e.g. australia where registered voter turnout is close to 90%, argentina 80%)

Lmao

"The research is by Antibot4Navalny, a group of anonymous volunteers. (The group says at least some of its team is based in Russia — a rarity in the world of disinfo research.) The group, which has been cited by Wired, The New York Times and the Recorded Future intelligence company, began tracking Russian troll farms in 2018. This is the first U.S. election it has monitored, a researcher said in an interview on Signal"

Thought I'd give that a random 5 minute listen and then hear it all if it sounded survivable sanity wise

Started listening around 27 mins in, and within a few short minutes Musk says

"several thousand people have been given prison sentences in the uk for social media posts where there was no explicit link to actual violence"

which is a total fabrication - 100% untrue, utter bullshit!

perhaps Musk got confused, idk, if so he should mind his damn language cos his assertion is completely untrue, so, I'm not wasting any time listening to anymore of that. Post-truth world.

I hope harris wins this election. Musk, rogan vance and trump all unhinged as fuck fascists.

Rogan is a kremlin fucking agent, same with musk.

trump is a con man a felon and a complete fucking idiot.

Rare breaking character moment

The fascination with what would ultimately become feudalism has always astonished me. I mean, haven't any of these oxygen-thieves ever read any sci-fi... or history? You can go either direction and find ample warnings that it's a bad direction.

"Hey kids, wanna move to Coca-colastan? I hear it's got more flavor than Pepsitown and less Yellow 5 than Mount Dew!"

I work in government (local) and I beg to differ! It's actually pretty cool to see effective government in action, and to be a part of making it better.

Honestly, being able to be a voice from our world helping to develop programs and policies that impact people like us (drug users) is a privilege. Government may be bureaucratic, but it's nice to work somewhere where the priority is actually not to make money, but to allocate resources wisely and do good work. Having worked in health care most of my career, it's crazy how much less stressful it is when you're not working somewhere that isn't a business. Plus, I get a pension on top of a ton of other great benefits.

If you don't like government, maybe try working for it. Be the change you want to see.

Cthulhu is paying my exorbitant salary - mostly in the souls of cultists and forgotten children. I get paid 17 soul tides a day for my work here, but Eris also chips in from time to time as well.
