2024 US Presidential Election

what kinda so called conservative hangs a FJB flag next to an elementary school?
There's a guy two streets over from me who has a big "Democrats suck" flag hanging from his house and a rather large Trump sign in his yard.
The house next door has a "For Sale" sign in the yard, and has for a while. Poor guy, other houses in the neighborhood are selling pretty quickly. I wonder what's up.
I mean, C'mon™ (sorry, I'll stop, maybe)

what about Putin endorsing Harris?

have you guys already talked about that?

what do you think of that?

"And look what you've done to us. We have to get up here and beg them to stop. Using Aiden as a political tool is, to say the least, reprehensible for any political purpose. And speaking of morally bankrupt, politicians Bernie Moreno, Chip Roy, J.D. Vance, and Donald Trump, they have spoken my son's name and used his death for political gain. This needs to stop now. They can vomit all the hate they want about illegal immigrants, the border crisis, and even untrue claims about fluffy pets being ravaged and eaten by community members. However, they are not allowed, nor have they ever been allowed, to mention Aiden Clark from Springfield, Ohio. I will listen to them one more time to hear their apologies."

Springfield is 60 miles from me, as the crow flies. This bullshit is hitting close to home.

I don't know where this idea comes from that Putin holds any great sway over the minds of people in the West. It's bonkers. This same notion is put forward in different ways in the British press as well. Big bad Putin.

Literally no one is influenced on their opinions regarding domestic issues by what Putin says. It's just a convenient excuse to connect alt-media outlets to, or anyone else, who holds anti-establishment sentiments.

You only have to open your eyes to be anti-establishment at this point, seeing as we're getting fucked from every which way by our own establishment. Russia doesn't have to do jack shit in that regard. It's just deflection, from how utterly abysmal our own governments and establishment are.

i think that's incorrect.

obviously, the post cold war narrative of "russia bad. russia enemy" was pretty simplistic but there's been a clear swing and useful (maga) idiots - like trump, mtg, etc. - seem enamoured of putin and seem to admire some idealised vision of what russia is today i.e. not diverse but white, christian, far-from woke, led by a strong, undemocratic leader, etc. trump admires autocrats because he's a wannabe autocrat.

you just have to listen to what they say to hear the russian propaganda being parrotted.

alasdair

The problem with you far-left minded people is you don't possess the awareness to realize that those on the right who talk about Putin/Russia are not enamoured with the Russia way of life (or Putin). They recognize Russia isn't what it says on the tin. The point is, that Russia still maintains some of the psychology that the West has lost.. namely.. having some balls and some semblance of connection to reality, and not having become this degenerate cultural wasteland the West is. That's what attracts attention, not Russia itself.

When you're knee deep in shite any patch of scrub looks like an oasis by comparison. It's going to draw your attention. Doesn't mean you no longer recognize it is still shitty scrub.

If our establishments in the West hadn't sold us all down the fucking river then people wouldn't give Russia (or other places) any attention at all! It's the same reason why many young people idolize the past, despite all its flaws. Or are even turning to Christianity. Because there is no hope in the West. It's all gone to shite.

Trump in his debate against Vice President Kamala Harris.

"You believe in things like we're not going to frack, we're not going to take fossil fuel, we're not going to do things that are going to be strong, whether you like it or not, Germany tried that, and within one year, they were back to building normal energy plants."

Germany's response...

"Like it or not: Germany's energy system is fully operational, with more than 50% renewables, And we are shutting down – not building – coal & nuclear plants. Coal will be off the grid by 2038 at the latest."

"PS: We also don't eat cats and dogs,"

no need for the ad-hom.
No, I do think it is warranted actually, because it is half the reason why we're in such a total mess (USA, UK, and much of Europe). There is a sizeable portion of the population that is helping maintain this faulty psychological zeitgeist by denying reality and trying to enforce delusional takes; for example, that we can take an unlimited stream of immigrants both legal and illegal into our nations without consequence.

In fact I don't think people continuing to prop up this zeitgeist get enough criticism actually - helped by all the laws put in place to protect such idiotic ideas and people from being confronted by their idiocy.

You'll deny reality until it punches you on the nose. Which is fine, except you're going to get me punched on the nose as well, when the consequences of all this nonsense comes home to roost. It's already happened across Europe, and it is now happening inside the USA as well. Crime, in particularly sexual violence against women, all going skyward.

That's what I mean by lacking awareness, and why the ad-hod isn't really at all, it's a completely valid criticism.. you just can't see it (naturally a lack of awareness can't grant awareness of its lack).
