Ok, So I have known that I have been hacked for about 3 yrs. It does not to have SEEMED to affect me in anyway.

Two days ago a friend of mine messes up and gets blackmailed by some phisher, w/e. I noticed a bunch of tech people left comments on being able to help him.

So I contacted one of these tech guys on FB, according to them (and I do believe them) my hacked email is in use everyday. (so what?)

Of course they are very sale driven and convinced me the world would end if I did not procure their services. I have no bank account, no credit, no job, my friends know my speech patter, I don't attach CC' to my computer (or even type them into) the hacked one, I am unblackmailable (legal enough to be comfortable in my skin)..... Seems like if they had it for 3 yrs and haven't been able to do anything; they can't do anything?

How much risk do you guys think I am actually at? (Shit I think i know what happened to my rc connect though, bastards!)

There's all sorts of people doing scammy type services. Is it a Gmail? Have you checked the login/security part of the account to see if anyone weird was logged in?

I doubt they have actual evidence that your email is in use. If you've changed the password and set up 2fa I'm sure you're fine

Actually I know that email account was stolen about 3 years ago. I do not own a cellphone and they used 2FA to attach it to their line. That is how I lost it.

Yes-ish and kind of-ish. Lol hows that for vague. Every now and than I use to get someone logging into my gmail in "germantown MD" quite often; I would assume they would be using VPN.

At one point the local hospital was contacted through an old facebook account. This is not an imaginary thing.

BUTT i have noticed no problems since I changed all my passwords and got a tracfone just for sms. So the issue I think we are talking about is...

My email IS HACKED; does it really matter to me. I feel they are bleeding a stone metaphorically. I have left a card with like 12 bucks attached to my ebay for over 3 months just to see if it would still be there and it was?? I haven't felt any damage and I don't really have money to deal with it in any financial capacity.

Thank you guys for the help,
haha krinkle I dont like gaslit either but I feel like the techy is obviously sales driven and using fear tactics to make it seem like everything will crumble to ashes if I dont pay 200 immediately.... It wont. I think that fits the bill

I also have the government name of the hacker and the day which I was hacked, in a two hourish timeframe. Happened to be the night of by birthday, past midnight.

Suggested actions or inactions?

Still using an account that was known to be stolen 3 years ago?

I would have migrated any connections that were linked to it to a new account and burned this account 3 years ago...

Just say'n ... kinda common sense

I honestly never intentionally look at porn. However, every so often I will go looking for something on the internet and guess what happens?
Your phone is infected with viruses from viewing porn.
What?
I am a middle aged guy who has been on strong opiods( legal prescribed, hello spy bots) and benzos, for 7-9 years ( Those meds along with others( all legally prescribed, have killed my libido

I believe it is temporary, from reading, and well, forgetting to take my meds.

Anyways it is almost certainly phishing and a scam to get money for: Cyber Security. Bullshit, stupid motherfuckers, I can hear( I called once) those idiots are in some sort of temporary call center, scamming people.
This is probably the same BS. In a different form.

A while back I had phone trouble. I took it to a place that repairs and trouble shoots phones. Nothing, your phone is clean. They could have possibly scammed me. They didn't and checked, my phone was clean. Cost me nothing.

My phone service sucks. The Tower near my place is constantly having issues. Even the dude at the place I got my phone, and use a major carrier: Admitted that the reception in my area sucks.( I live near the store).

Life was so much simpler before the internet( yes I am aware of dial up services in the 80's and the attempts made at creating the internet as we now know it).

All the issues with the internet, have really annoyed me. I got my first e-mail address in 1995/6. Since then, all kinds of scams and nonsense. Not to mention jobs lost and yes many created, but overall, I am really starting to hate the internet.

If you know how to 'burn' accounts it is. I spoke with yahoo customer service for like 6 hours and my chordless phone died before I could convince them I was me.

Once they lock that sms in it is very hard to even reach a human. Any advice friend?

Actually I was hacked by a human who I have seen in person. I am a tech illiterate if you haven't caught on. Got me at 6 am the night after my birthday, the good part is I know exactly who did it and when because of this. I can't say I was completely sober (suprise) and she asks me to remember these 6 #'s for her and send em back.... The fuck, thinks my drunk ass. "sure, dont you have copy paste?" "here they are"

Next day Im still logged in and I ask her, hey did you ask me for 6 #'s last night "yea" .... "I think you accidentally took my facebook page somehow" and she dissapears. From online. In real life she exists and is easily found but thats another thing all together.

1) create anew email account. Use a strong password that is not the same as the old one.
2) switch all the contacts that are connected to the old account to the new account
3) never, ever open the old one up. Yahoo will delete it after two years.

1 done. 2. done. 3. Apparently they are using that email daily; for what purposes I have no clue as my identity is fairly worthless nor thoroughly constructed through email.

Thank you for the advice chesire. I did what I could on that list before getting here.

edit 1 and 2 took care of the "at hand" problem. I dont know what risk that email really is but im not sweating to hard; not great knowing its used daily. Probably just spamming people from it

hahahahaha no I meant if "it" the email were a burnable thing not the human.

That is kind of hilarious.

*edit* I mean wait I was on acid and this guy on the internet said it would be the thing to do. hahahaha.. im jp. my sanity is in store.

I have seperated my accounts from it. I imagine there is some data that could still be gathered from it, none current but some permanent
